Who is Sam Curran, the man running through Indian batting line up?

Pandya is batsman first by trade, Curran is a bowler who can bat like BK.

Batting allrounders (i.e. Batsman first by trade types )  are not as desirable as Bowling allrounders in test cricket.

IMO, a batting allrounder really deserves a place in playing XI if and only if he can enter purely as a batsman (i.e. even if they do not bowl one over, they are still useful for the team). Whereas for the bowling allrounders, even with occasional bursts of success like Curran had and good batting support lower down, they can be very useful for team's success. Examples being how Bhhuvi and Ashwin (when he was contributing well with bat until recently) were contributing. Also, I don't think the bits and pieces allrounders are good at test level (for e.g.) unless they can enter in to playing XI by one trade alone.

Pandya is the best option we have to groom and I hope he will succeed. But unless he improves his test bowling, his place in playing XI will always be under scanner (unless offcourse his batting prowess grows on par with test specialists).

and that is what i also want from him. A batting alrounder bats in top 7. He should be able to hold his own as a batsman and average around 40 batting at 6 or 7 in long term.  These are still early days for him though and yesterday's inning is no criteria to judge any batsman because ball was doing a lot and every ball was an event at one point and when it happens, batting becomes too much luck dependent.

While a bowling alrounder is a bowler who can bat some, but you a bowling alrounder cannot bat in top 7 and you will still need a batting alrounder who can play the role of a 5th bowler.  Problem arises when top 6 are not that good which is the case at this point.  So, we need a batting alrounder at this point and not a bowling alrounder.  A batting alrounder who can bowl a few overs as a 5th bowler.

A bowling alrounder cannot play as a 5th bowler, he should be able to play in top 4 bowles, but a batting alrounder can unless your top 6 are so good that you can afford to play a bowling alrounder as 5th bowler which is not the case here.  In case example yesterday, it was Kohli and Pandya partnership that brought us back in the game.  We were staring at 150 all out at one point, but that partnership weathered the storm and made sure that tough time was seen off.  Later, as sun came out, it became easier to bat on that even Umesh and Ishant could survive.

where does it says that?

i had posted a cricinfo article about it. Also, it says maximum conventional swing is achieved at that pace.  yes, you can get swing higher speeds than that too but the amount of swing reduces as the pace increases.
