For now we need to stick with him.. it's upto him to utilise this opportunity and cement his position. Pujara and Nair are not the answers for our overseas problems.

34 is old for a test opener, especially outside Asia. Also don't think Vijay has focused enough on his fitness. We need to set our eyes on the Australia tour and World Test Championship.

Vijay has been underperforming since age 32.   I have always felt that he lacks the will to excel, despite having a lot of cricketing abilities.

The number 3 spot was up for grabs but Rahul does not has temperament of No 3. batsmen. Think on Patta wickets his lack of temperament and bad shot selection can get masked and will get him runs. In tough conditions his game isn't suited to No. 3.

With all the hoopla around him,if he doesn't get a big score at Lord's,then his stocks will start falling ,also I think he ll be opening at Lords
