Manjrekar's hype came crashing down in 90s .... though he was considered technically good

Kambli faded away .... he had weakness against bouncers .... though in Indian / subcon conditions he knew how to get big 100s

New guys - Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman were drafted

In the 90s,   WI  bowling was strong and England very weak.

lol tendulkar even in the twilight of his career was better than everyone and some idiots still cry about his retirement :finger:

Tbh he wasn't even getting beaten like these tailenders in the top order. He just couldn't convert his starts, his concentration was waning. IIRC he was the 2nd highest scorer in Aus, 3rd or 4th highest in Eng, also the media hype wrt 100th ton put too much pressure on him.

It's not just SENA countries. Our batting is a big let down in India also.

I am sure this batting group has never clicked as a group with every 5 batsman scoring half centuries just like Fab 5 used to do, not even against the likes of SL, WI.

If you will see you won't even find the home batting domination by this players also. Yes there are instances of individual performances when we had a 200 run patnerships and then a mini collapse which would prevent us from scoring 600 and we would score 400-500 with the help of Aswin-Jadeja-Shami/Bhuvi.

Missing bk.

BK has no score over 50 though .... therefore not a solution .... the specialist batmen have been a let down apart from a few outliers

Sadly true, India continue to be pathetic abroad barring Kohli

No-one with grit and mental fortitude barring Kohli...bunch of mental midgets...hyped by glamorous IPL salaries

Very true. The IPL / T20i  effect is clearly seen here. The dismissals of Dinesh Karthik, K L Rahul, Ajinkya rahane and Shikhar Dhawan. 4 days test will be a reality soon considering most matches are finishing within 4 days. Even SA lost 2 tests last month withing 3 or 4 days, didn't they?

Our test batting is so bad, take out kohli and this batting will compete with bangladesh for the title of worst batting lineup in the world, may be it is a knee jerk comment but I have been patient with this lot for quite some time, I didn't mind losing the sa series even though it could have been easily won, but I could give the batting some leeway considering the fact that they were playing on green mambas against philander, rabada, morkel, nigidi but falling like 9 pins in these conditions is unacceptable, these aren't unplayable conditions, if you can't even bat in these conditions then you really need to rethink about your international career

No knee jerk, fundamental issue with off-stump game and grittiness, some of these batsmen are not upto playing elite level of cricket

Virat saying the top order players need ot learn something from way Umesh and Ishant batted. Seriously, the likes and Shikhar, Rahul, Ajinkya and Vijay need to learn how to put value on wicket.

Virat perfectly summed them up and also that they need to look at the mirror .no coaching, guidance will help when you are playing on the middle,it's all you and your thoughts

The determination and  temperament for test cricket is clearly lacking, which is subsequently affecting shot selection. The attacking stroke-play in so many short format matches these guys play is also affecting whatever little technique these guys have.

This is a uni dimensional batting lineup which can score only on patta wickets.
