Shami's bowling performance in this series

Shami is a good bowler in SC conditions,

average in SENA .

Unless there is a crisis or a horses for courses policy based change ...  changes should be made only if there is a clearly better short term and long term option available.

 

That option is Siraj.

 

If Siraj is chosen then he can replace Shami ...  if not then Shami should play.

 

No point bringing in a Shardul or an Umesh ... and then want them out after one match if they fail.  Teams are not built that way.

Even when he is in rhythm, he just can't bowl 6 good bowls in the channel in an over. Hence, the high economy rate. If the way Siraj has performed can't get him in the team, I don't think that will be encouraging for those vying for a spot in the Indian team. Let the likes of Umesh, Shardul, Shami go and prove themselves in India A games or Ranji. I really doubt if they can outperform the likes of Siraj, Rajpoot or Gurbani. We must induct good pacers performing well especially if they are in the 22-26 age group and have a good mix of youth and experience.

The current team management doesn't have the guts to play Siraj in place of Shami,if somehow he gets selected in the squad,they will select the worst variant called" Umesh"..Siraj cant bowl bad....this is test cricket and infact he did extremely well with the A side there,I dont mind even if  Rajpoot  is given a chance

Problem with Shami is he does not swing the ball much and he is too short to be a hit the deck bowler.

Never mind what I said earlier. Shami has a poor SR. Ashwin overall surpasses Shami's performance so far on tour.
