I have seen people sticking out their heads from the window yelling at ambulance to not hurry. Can you believe?

Not hard to believe in India .... we have to move away from the "chalta hai" culture and ingrain a sense of accountability and care in our population .... Same reason, why Ind is extremely dirty, unhygienic and polluted, and suffering from waste management, clean water, air, land, etc. related problems

This country could self-destruct

uncontrolled urban sprawl is the biggest evil.

scum of the society take back gate entry into politics and have no respect for policy procedure just bring in more mass from rural areas to urban centers. The more this happens the more brazen the population would increasingly become.

Some structural changes to the ways roads are build land acquired can mean broader roads..which will alleviate it for a period.

Is this arrogance, lack of compassion, lack of commonsense or combination of all...I never thought people do such a thing during emergency even in India...wow!!

It always been like this

After visiting so many countries, the lack of driving skills in India is staggering,

-lack discipline,

-lack of courtesy to give way (especially to pedestrians)

-unable to follow basic traffic rules

-overtaking from wrong side

-don’t know how to use circles

-never check blind spots

-drive bumper to bumper

- so many more

The RTOs are so rubbish manned by incompetent driving inspectors

First thing to improving road safety and get rid of idiotic driving is tO introduce compulsory paper based test and then a 30 minute driving test into real town/roads, not driving 10meters forward and reverse

We cant blame general public either because the system itself is rotten. Let me explain. It is not unheard of that many emergency vehicles are misused by operators and authorities. I have seen staff driving ambulance with no patient in it and no emergency but running the siren. same thing with police vehicles. It is hard for people to believe that it will be an emergency until everything around changes.

But even if they are misused, generate traffic has no entitlement to obstruct emergency vehicle. My frustration is that ambulance is treated just like any other vehicle on the street and on top of that traffic rules are horrible. With all that, ambulance is as good as any other vehicle on the street except it will have some medical equipment and supplies.
