Last time I checked being better than the rest is what makes someone No.1. there is no benchmark that says you have to be No.1 by a certain margin. Sure Andon mein Kaana raja is a good saying because blind can't see,Kaana can so massive advantage kaana.

This is what makes me sad..... Indian fans have so low standards..... This team will whitewash WI in two months again we will be gloating about our no1 ranking.......

These rockstars are the highest paid cricketers around, they have more fan following than their counterparts in other countries. Still we can't win in Aus, SA (never won) and now , can't even finish off this mediocre English team (Lost a series to SL at home, drew qith Pakistan, lost a match to WI of all people).............

So fricking sad

Bhai, we are #1 because others are not good enough .... Let's not equate rankings to number #1 status the sides like WI and Aus enjoyed

Well I don't know why no. 1 has to be an India vs Pakistan thing. Pakistan is also one of the top sides in the world, and always has a great bowling line up, so if they have done well in England that's not a surprise.

As far as no.1 is concerned, no team in the world today is good enough to win outside their home, look what happened to England in Australia in last Ashes, Australia in Srilanka in 2016, South Africa in Srilanka recently.

India is competitive playing away, even if they just win a match and not the series, and hardly drop a game at home. May be that's they are no. 1

If the criteria to be no.1 is to win at home and away, than no team deserves to be no. 1 but there is a system in place, so someone will be no. 1 and someone will no. 2 and if any team starts doing better and wins at home and away, than they will be the no. 1 team, as simple as that.

India is no.1 that is not the point, every other team is weak hence we are no.1..... but when you have a golden chance to WIN YOUR FIRST SERIES EVER in SA and lose it and then again in England (who are easily beatable at home) you cant close games in Edgbaston adn again now here at Southampton
