Vihari should get next 10 tests

Recommended Posts

Our next test series would be part of WTC so have to pick players who are in good nick. Therefore, unfortunately, cannot afford to write a blank cheque to specialist batsmen where the competition for spots is high. Probably, have to give a player a full series and then evaluate the progress .... In the last series vs WI and the current series in Aus, we could have been more proactive and tried some more new players rather than persisting with TTFs as these were the last two series before WTC

2019

  • July: In WI (2 Tests)
  • Oct: vs SA (3 Tests)
  • Nov: vs BD (2 Tests)

2020

  • Feb: In NZ (2 Tests)
  • Nov: In Aus (4 Tests)

2021

  • Jan: vs Eng (5 Tests)
  • June: Final (TBD)

Assuming that Vihari does well in WI, most likely will be there till SA series in Ind .... Depending up on performances, existing players can be continued and/or new players drafted if required for BD series (relatively easy competition) in Nov and to NZ in Q1 2020 .... In Nov 2020, there would be the tough series in Aus, who would have planned better, and then Eng will tour Ind in Jan 2021 .... I hope we make it to the final in Eng (most likely venue iirc unless Eng is in the final too) in June .... Have to get the team spot on for late 2020 to mid 2021 period

No power? Were people even watching the same game? His backfoot drives were something else. The frontfoot drives were always noticeable. Felt he was unlucky to find the fielder so often at the MCG.

I think we have a real find here for the long-term #5 or #6 slot. He could be  a member of the ODI squad if he develops the pull / hook shot. That is the one weakness so far.

Look has some power all modern players do  but not that power like others do and range of shots etc.  Not that he cant play odis .  But he will be another rahane type.  He is simply not his game.  We have much better options imo

Next pujara he can become if he can iron out his short ball deficiencies. He has a good defensive technique

I was talking why not suitbale for odis not tests.  Defo looks good solid guy for tests, did good job this innings

I would like fo give him chances in odi in the mandatory zimbabwe series we have every two years. Rayudu Rahul etc came out from those tours. He can bat at no 4
