Prasidh should be a regular in our A squads.

Gavaskar not happy Saini bowling 150+

Says Indians do have a habit of jumping too early the moment they see any Indian bowling 140+

When Gavaskar was the captain of India, we had a fast bowler called TA Sekhar.  Many said that he was the quickest bowler in the world.  Whether true or not, he was very quick and bouncy.  But he got to play only 2 tests ...  and 4 ODIs in which he averaged 25.

Then there was Raju Kulkarni, who was sharp too.

If we consider the other seamers we had then  ( apart from Kapil  )   ...  pedestrian Madan Lal,  Chetan Sharma and Roger Binny ... why did these 2 quick bowlers not get to play 10 to 15 tests atleast ,  before they were rejected.

If Mr.Gavaskar, the captain, had a bit of passion about fast bowling, we could have had fast bowlers from the early to mid 1980s itself.

P.s -- Kapil Dev, when captain,  also ignored any other quick pacer who looked promising ... but that does not absolve Gavaskar of the blame when he was the captain.

Also, I dont see anything wrong in jumping up seeing a 140 plus bowler when every other nation does the same.  Look at who Aussie, English and Saffers hype up their pacers.

And also... look at the diffetent marketing styles.

Saini is consistently bowling 140 k to 153 k ... and our ex-cricketers are calling him a 140 k plus pacer. While Brett Lee was calling him a 150 k bowler.

Jhye Richardson was bowling  135 k to 143 k mostly in the series against us ...  and the Aussies were saying that he can bowl  150 k when he wants.

Scott Stryris was  analyzing Bumrah's bowling ... and said that his express pace helps him a lot.  Never heard any Indian cricketer call Bumrah express ... even though he is bowling lots of 145 k to 150 k balls these days.

Hasnain is being marketed as a fast bowler who can bowl 150 kph by the Pakistanis, although he rarely touches that speed. We have quite a few bowlers of that pace... but none are being termed as 150 k pacers.

Our ex-cricketers are so reluctant to call our pacers as fast bowlers, even when they are.  Srinath was the biggest casualty of this defensive approach by our cricket fraternity.

But this marketing of fast bowlers is important ....  it eggs young pacers to bowl quick ... it çreates an aura around the national bowling attack and the national team.

Gavaskar hates indian pacers but he ain't alone ,during one of rp Singh's early matches, maninder singh was claiming speedometer was broken, as rp had touched 140k  and was not bowling 128-130ks,I remember him going on and on in commentary trying to convince everyone ,maninder's mentor bishan bedi is another one of those .

Last year I was  watching some aus domestic cricket and they are always on the look out for pacers, the commentators there seem to know everything about the background of young pacers like Riley Meredith and co .They look into specific body types like long arms and legs and short torso and since bumrah was bowling well ,they were saying that they need to find bowlers with double jointed shoulders and hyperextensions as they help you to generate pace.

You can see how Pakistanis defend their pacers.hasnain would have been banned by bcci if he had played for india.

Things like biomechanics should form a greater part of our commentators lingo.

Gavaskar's apparent disinterest in Indian quicks is somewhat bizarre since it was his performances against the fearsome West Indian fast bowling attack(also Australian) which made him the legend that he is. Having faced and done well against guys like Roberts,Holding,Marshall,Garner,Lillee, Thomson first hand, one might expect him to be more enthusiastic about raw pace. Maybe decades of lack of express bowlers has made him cynical.

Even Junaid do seem to chuck but never was reported, why icc shuts its eyes on these cases, chucking and fixing has been part and parcel of pakistani cricket
