Me thinks this guy posting is not a Scot but certainly lives there. A padosi perhaps. The only guy who is English/British is @YCCC I think. Most of the posters passionate about cricket are Asians. Even SL posters are very few. Aussies have their own forum. I don't think English cricket has any forums

Oh he's most definitely got a bit of greenbro in him, he's been baited into responding more than once when it comes to pureland.  Not unlike that cranky little toyger who loved pretending that he wasn't.

There are plenty of british paksitanis (even 3rd or 4th gen) who are well-versed with the local culture but remain greenbro on the inside. They always form ghettos wherever they go (no go areas in europe) where even the police dare not enter. This guy definitely sounds like one. isis has the most number of volunteers from the uk. scary

The biggest giveaway was when he first started posting - tried to project an aura by literally posting "tu jaanta nahi main kaun hoon" in English translation.  Basically, typical Pindi Paindu logic.  You can take Paindu out of the Pind....

I can assure you no true English cricket lover will ever "sing the praises" of that hundred ball abomination. Also most are realistic enough to know that they will * up in the world cup as well (despite what the cheerleaders on Sky and BBC are saying). As for me I am just going to enjoy the spectacle. If England win great, if not it will still be a fantastic 6 weeks (weather permitting). Got tickets for some great games including India v Pak, and no I am not accepting offers

this is why you need backups the next cycle cant come sooner, hope Kohli and Pujara do not decline and we would have backup in mayank etc. And in bowling, Saini is a must

Don't be so negative, England are defintely favorites.  And by a margin.

dude England team are favorites and rightfully, they would have been favorites anywhere in the world except for probably India.

Of course.  And we are at a stage where we can realistically expect legit backups for pretty much all positions, including pace bowling.  But until 2 years ago, forget backups, we didnt even have enough top shelf pace bowlers to have a decent 3 man pace attack.  I cannot express how good it feels after decades of being an Indian fan, to have a test bowling attack of Bumrah, Bhuvi, Shami and Ishant.

wanted to add - that abomination is more about the ECB seizing greater control (and $$) over the domestic game and its future, away from the counties, than it is, about the game.  That to me, as a cricket fan, is sad.  I'm sure you have similar feelings, being such a fan of county cricket.

Aus is going to be like - rest of the team went through **** together and all of them leveled up in all the beatings, eventually leveled up to beat India at home. Then the true good players in Smith and Warner are back, so thats double impetus. Aus & England tough to beat, India as always will play well in a WC, then there is the scary WI who could on their day make any teams target look absolutely silly.

Don't know if you are aware but they plan to drop first team 50 over county cricket from next year to fit in their new money making scheme. After four years of transforming their 50 over cricket they are going to drop it just like that. Where they think the next generation will learn the 50 over game I don't know. I suspect the other forms of countycricket will follow in favour of franchises like the SA system.

 

And trust me. They will not win the World Cup. Years of watching English national teams failing in bilateral tournaments teaches you what to expect

I know you are enthusiastically pessimistic about England cricket, its a familiar position to take, comforting even.  But seriously, the current ODI team is pretty good.  It also helps that cricket is a sport with about 3 to 4 legit contenders to begin with, and most teams are carrying bigger flaws than the home team.  The one team that could have realistically challenged them, has reduced its own probabilities with self-inflicted 'management'.  England are rolling downhill towards their first WC.  It will be a serious f-up, if they don't win.  Now as much as we all know and enjoy the frequency of serious f-ups when it comes to England cricket, being dispassionately objective, England are solid favorites.  Just accept it!

 

Hard to dispute any of the rest of your post though.  For actual cricket fans, such actions by the "stewards of the game" are frustratingly sad.

they have all bases covered, with Jofrah they have probably sealed any possible weakness ( with that express pace alternative - no offence to woods).

 

Next is Aus i think they have ticked everything too.
