vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Looking at recent matches, warm up games pitches are good to bat on. With white kookaburra, two new balls purchase you are going to get will be very limited. Our idea of getting to 270 and restricting the opposition below that may not pan out as we expect. Teams will hunt down such total. OUr middle order is not good enough to resurrect collapses and take us to a good total. Bulk of the runs have to be scored by the top 3. In helpful conditions we are exposed even more as we have 2 dud players against swing bowling upfront. Dhoni despite being the middle order batsman is clueless against spin these days. KL Rahul is very unreliable. So is kedar jadhav. He is also injury prone. DK is useless. Shankar is an unknown factor. Pandya is the only one guy who is fit for his role. Other 3 roles in the middle are not upto the mark. If KL Rahul is the same old KL Rahul that we dropped, then i would rather play Shankar. If they can't get upto a decent total after each collapse then they are useless. Same way bowlers have to be useful with the ball all the time. Jimmy Neesham is such a capable hitter. In addition he picked up 3 wickets. What do we have from his counter part? No runs, No wickets.
cowboysfan Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 saying this right now,our openers are more important than Kohli. If both get out cheaply we are screwed and can even lose to srilanka or pakistan.

It is like watching RCB all over. Kohli should have developed a strong core middle order who can be as good as top 3 if not better. Rayudu my a**. They were backing this useless guy for 2 years. Shankar was not actually part of their plan. Rayudu sucked so bad that they had to accommodate Shankar. KL Rahul has a big stage fright. He just fizzles out moment there is some expectation. cowboysfan 1
zen Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 this yr, openers have played in all the games so far and have not made much impact apart from chasing down relatively low totals w/ less pressure: View overall figures [change view] Primary team India Start of match date between 1 Jan 2019 and 31 Dec 2019 Batting position between 1 and 7 Qualifications innings batted greater than or equal to 5 Ordered by batting average (descending) Page 1 of 1 Showing 1 - 7 of 7 First Previous Next Last Return to query menu Cleared query menu Overall figures Player Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 0 4s 6s MS Dhoni 9 8 4 327 87* 81.75 418 78.22 0 4 1 22 6 V Kohli 11 11 0 611 123 55.54 648 94.29 3 1 0 57 5 KM Jadhav 11 9 3 290 81* 48.33 326 88.95 0 2 0 30 3 RG Sharma 13 13 0 556 133 42.76 701 79.31 1 4 1 44 16 S Dhawan 13 13 1 420 143 35.00 475 88.42 1 2 2 52 4 V Shankar 9 5 0 165 46 33.00 171 96.49 0 0 0 14 4 AT Rayudu 10 10 2 247 90 30.87 328 75.30 0 1 2 24 6 From those who have played at least 5 innings, batting is mostly about Kohli. Dhoni had a few not outs but may not perform similarly vs. full strength sides in ICC events, where Rohit has a poor record too diehardpacer and cowboysfan 2
Straight Drive Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 All depends whether top 3 can score or not. Pandya will chip in with cameos and do his job perfectly as well with the bat at least. What we need is big innings player. Only Sharma and Kohli can be expected to score 150 plus.
chewy Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 In this world cup 350 will be considered safe score. India don't have the batting line-up to score or chase 350 plus. India will rely heavily on bowling unit to win them matches. IF India wins this world cup then it will be their bowling unit that will.win it for them
kubrickian Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 All depends on Kohli, Rohit because you need to chase/post 350-400 in every game. Dhawan is out of form and has become inconsistent, big question mark on KL Rahul in international cricket. Dhoni will do a decent job but he is no longer the force he once was. He cant give you a 70 ball hundred which is needed on these pitches. Hardik will chip in with a cameo. But not many other hitters in the tail, other than Jaddu who is also patchy. The problem was selectors couldnt understand the brand of cricket thats played nowadays in England and were happy not to experiment. Some firepower is needed in middle order like Pant or even Shaw or Gill. SK_IH 1
