Chahal's bowling

He is the favorite spinner of captain Kohli... However I'm not convinced with his bowling in last few matches. I've noticed that he is not or rarely bowling wrong ones, straight ones or googlys...

 

Most of the balls are slow leg spin and batsmen can easily read it. He might get occasional wickets but not creating much doubts in the mind of batsmen...

 

He used to bowl wide sucker balls which batsmen regularly feel for it.. Now hisline is mostly mid and leg stump which allows batsmen to milk the bowing and sweep or reverse sweep...

 

He needs to up his game and shouldn't get complacent being the pet bowler of Kohli...

 

PS: I hate his drama of shirt collar in mouth sheepish smile when taken to cleaners for dishing out pies...

I can never understand Kohlis love for Chahal over Kuldeep. Everygame, when both are playing, he will bring Kuldeep before Chahal. Saying that, I think Chahal himself is more effective when he has Kuldeep within the team. So either play Kuldeep with Chahal or dont play Chahal.

That smile he gives after getting smashed is the second most irritating thing one could ever do.

KulCha were doing so well till 2018, choking teams in middle overs, winning match after match. The Kohli-Shastri decided they needed multi-dimensional players. Started to rotate them at the TM’s whim. End result, Kuldeep lost his rhythm and has mostly been on bench (would have regressed massively due to lack of competitive cricket. Chahal isn’t the same bowler either.

 

By 2020 T20 WC, Ashwin and Jadeja could will be our main LOI spinners as kaptaan now prefers defensive bowlers who can ‘bat’.
