I know a lot of people were saying that cricket has been upstaged by womens world cup here but the current TL of my Twitter is full of cricket and from people who didn't post even a single tweet about cricket in their whole Twitter career. Some of them are even calling it the best game ever in any sport and yeah most of them are white British.

Seeing some of the reaction videos of England fans on twitter after their win , quite impressive to see so many people were watching it despite Federer-Djokovic final at the same time.

Cricket will never compete with soccer in the UK. Not even close.  But hopefully cricket can nonetheless be as popular as it was 30 years ago. Ashes '05 too showed promise, but England could not sustain that success. What's important now is to build on the WC win.

It has a lot to do with the fact that it’s not FTA and people can’t afford expensive Sky subscription and don’t want to. It’s useless to compare it with soccer when most of the countries have football as the dominant sport

The truth is ppl like to follow winning teams. The moment england starts to lose, the interest will wane. If India start losing many matches, interest will decrease in India too, just like hockey tanked in the country
