For tests, you need a batsman who can bowl a bit. Pandya isn't full fledged test batsman yet nor a specialist bowler. Suhaan 1

I would prefer in SENA tests now ... 6. Jadeja 7. Pant 8. Kuldeep / Ishant 9. Shami 10. Saini / Ishant 11. Bumrah Add extra batsman for Kuldeep on green mamba ! Suhaan 1

One cannot fight the nature every single day as it will react to irreversible proportion if body is overworked than what it is capable of. The problem with his frequent injuries is that captain cannot give him a workload of a proper all rounder in test matches. If a player cannot be utilized to his fullest at top level (Test) then it is better to let him recover fully and pick a specialist player who will either score more runs or will pick five fer more often. We are wasting a specialist pacers career in tests, which we have in plenty imo. Edited February 2, 2020 by Straight Drive

Captain should be able to access the physical limitations and rotate players so that he doesn't overloads a player than what he is capable of. Rotation is definitely one and only way which solves many purpose especially when handling all rounders. Kapil, Sobers, Kallis, Botham, Imran, Hadlee and other all rounders were exceptions who took more workload as bowlers. Even though Kohli rested Pandya for 2 tests even though he was picked in squad, Pandya isn't a star in test by any means so there was more scope to rest him in other series in whatever small test career he has had.

Kapil Dev bowled so much in 60 odd consecutive tests then missed one test and again 60 odd consecutive tests. Sobers too was fit for most part of his career inspire of taking the all rounders workload. Jadeja dives so much on field yet we never see him get injured. Maxwell too. Some cricketers are very athletic and survive what a lot of cricketers can only dream off. jadeja n maxwell bowls spin and jadeja to had to go for surgery before 2015 wc

Injury is okay if it happens after numerous years but in Pandyas case I think he is out for third or fourth time in a very short cricketing career at international level. No way Jadeja has broken down 4 times in 3 years.

He has some issue with action which is causing injury and once pollock mentioned that he needs some tweaking in it as well Jadeja n pandya shudnt be even compare.....if fitness comparisons are to be drawn compare it with russell or stokes Ur telling me a guy bowling 140k shud not break down as much as a spinner Edited February 2, 2020 by Ankit_sharma03 Ironhide 1

His body is not capable to take the workload of bowling that pace and take the workload, hence he should have been rotated co sudering his physical limitations. Isn't a captain supposed to identify this ? There are many pacers who bowl fatser than Pandya and have taken a huge workload as Pacer in their domestic and international career yet they do not go through as manay injuries as Pandya is going through. Do you want me to name them ?

R!TTER Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 What has batting workload got to do with this? Has Pandya shown he's capable of lasting 100~150 balls each test? No then why are you bringing this up? As for pacers - Rabada, Cummins come to mind straight away, bowled way more overs than Pandya & doing much better with proven fitness over the last 3 odd years.

Below are names from just Indian renowned players who played significant matches at top level. Havent even considered domestic pacers who have negligible international matches or never made international level. A further longer list if we consider pace bowlers from all countries. Haven't added Irfan Pathan who has bowled and batted more than Pandya because he too was a frequent injury material. Just to name allrounders: Sobers, Dev, Hadlee, Imran, Miller, Cairns, Kallis, Botham, Pollock Stokes. Edited February 2, 2020 by Straight Drive
