I am glad they picked Shankar. Yes Dube made the most of opportunities he got but to me Shankar appeared smarter bowler and definitely better batsman.

both are diff players n do diff roles

Batting-

Dube power hitter can bat 5-7, not a test match option as of now

Shankar- middle order solid batsman can bat 3-5, power hitting is not his strong suite. Not suited for t20

Bowling - not much of diff apart from experience which shankar after playing years in domestic

If NZ can use Colin as a test regular in home conditions, Shankar compares very favorably to him.

definately a better batsman then him bowling ill give CDGH an edge

Why exactly would you replace a specialist batsman with a batting all rounder who has hardly done anything of note with the ball in FC cricket. He has been in pathetic form recently in Ranji Trophy but again gets unjust reward (like his WC selection).

If Pandya doesnt play in NZ it ll mean jadhav career will be extended

Still there's no need to persist with Jadhav. Dube, Shankar, Jadeja can be the 5th/6th bowlers. Instead play Pandey at 5 in ODIs

TM doesnt think as virat still wantsto play safe in name of experience. This is the time that shud be used to give youngster experience before next wc. How else u explain that a player who wasnt trusted in wc and has no future is in line up. Dube batting might work on those mini grounds in NZ....but hardik injury might give him a life in t20 where he was about to be dropped.

Coz these are the only seaming all rounder avl

And shankar was excellent last Nz a tour n made runs when given a chance for national team to

They wud be looking at him as seaming all rounder for test in squad since pandya wnt reach that fitness.

Shankar is NOT an all rounder in FC cricket.

As a specialist middle order batsman, Ankit Bawne, Mandeep, An,olpreet or Manish Pandey have better claim than Shankar.

Will this Pandya guy ever play again? or just IPL? It is almost like we are at Pandya's mercy not the other way around. While guys like Rahul are still not sure of his position in the starting XI, Pandya will walk right back into the side with no competition. As much as we think he is indispensable, expectation should be high for this guy. He flunked in the world cup at a crucial stage.

I think Pandya and Pant partnership helped Ind to try to make a comeback after the 4 of the top 6 sold a dummy .... if Pant and Pandya had not weathered the storm, who knows Ind could have been bowled out for 100-150

Fall of wickets: 1-4 (Rohit Sharma, 1.3 ov), 2-5 (Virat Kohli, 2.4 ov), 3-5 (KL Rahul, 3.1 ov), 4-24 (Dinesh Karthik, 9.6 ov),

Top 3 delivered in several earlier matches.  Only difference is these guys are available to play even after the world cup. If they wifail l they could get kicked out. But Pandya can come in whenever he wants, he can take rest whenever he wants. Nobody is going to do anything
