Have Chahar and Thakur shut the door on other aspiring bowlers in LOIs?

With Asia cup and WT20 just being a few months away, have they shut the door on other bowlers?

Obviously they have to be injury free but with Chahar’s 6 wicket haul and Thakur showing utility time and again I think they have shut the door on other names.

Shami,Bumrah,Emergence of Saini and with Bhuvi coming back from injury I don’t see any vacant slots.

Like it or not we have to accept we are stuck with these 2 for the foreseeable future.

Also both can bat and are decent fielders, unless there is some breakout 150+ bowler in the IPL I don’t see anyone getting ahead of these 2

others also hasnt helped their case by getting injured

Mavi n krishna have gotten injured at wrong time and with their inexperience high chance they ll have more bad games in this harsh format of t20.

I dont find Chahar suited for ODIs

Top 3 teams in the T20 WC are likely to be Aus, Eng, and WI (full strength). I would rate players on performances vs these vs. BD, SL, NZ, etc.

Though NZ and SA could do well this time .... everyone has his day :dontknow:

I don’t think ODIs are that important right now so mostly the T20 players will get chances till atleast next WT20 in 2021.

Do you really think Kohli and TM have a vision for all 3 formats?

Mark my words a couple of injuries to say Iyer/Pandey/Top 4 (including Rahul) and we will pick Rahane for WT20 saying he plays fast bowling well and does well in Aus conditions.

to be fair to NZ they are playing without Boult, lockie and southee isnt a t20 bowler. Why is Mitch Mcgleshan not in their plans ...cant understand

Also what happ to corey anderson n why is neesham playing A cricket

Whatever happened to Adam Milne?

Also Matt Henry. But don’t think Henry is a T20 bowler though

NZ usually punches above its weight in key world events .... Won the CT in 2000 too .... They will come firing with the right combination in the WC .... SA after the disappointing ODI WC could be dangerous too esp in group games

Let’s not forget teams like Pak and Wi who in T20 format can upset any team on their day

I already listed Aus, Eng, and WI (full strength) as top 3 threats

PS Pak is in the group with Aus, WI and NZ

To be honest i dont mind Thakur in squad provided their are some injuries or he is going as bowling all rounder but he shudnt play ahead of bowlers due to his batting. Thakur might enjoy aus wkts like mohit did in 2015 Wc. For such bowlers aus is better then eng n NZ coz Aus pitches provide pace n bounce.

If they wanna keep him for his batting play him in top 7 as bowling all rounder anyways not many balls are left for no.7 for t20

  • Iyer will be tested in future for sure ...problem for him is guys behind are so talented that one slip up and he ll find tough to comeback and our captain is a reactive guy for whom a perception of player changes with only one poor result
  • Pandey problem wud be his style of batting will only come into play in collapses which wud be twice in 10 games
  • and yea rahul with kind of record can come under hammer with 2-3 failure due to dhawan, luckily for him Wk will keep him in squad
  • Rahane has to have a 600 around IPL to come in picture with a good s/r as well and his problem is DC is filled with openers so i doubt he ll get games.

Pak will depend on squad they pick....i wanna how well does sharjeel does post his comeback. He was one who cud wack the ball at start .

But i dnt expect them to go far in Aus condition had it been england i wud have given them a better chance

Going by Kohli’s preference for bowlers who can bat, our T20 lower order will be

Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli, Iyer, Rahul, Jadeja, Sundar, Bhuvi, Thakur, Chahar with Bumrah as the only specialist pacer. Reads like a super threatening WC winning unit esp. the bowling :wall:
