Not reporting deaths. Actual deaths are 3 times more at very least. This is due to many factors including someone who tested negative for covid after testing positive but couldn't survive the damage caused by virus and died due to complications. Singh bling Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Looks like Pakistan has developed herd immunity. Only 936 cases.

The stats are true , covid 19 situation in Pakistan has improved significantly . Hospitals which were jam packed a month or so ago have much lesser patients with covid 19 now. Particularly ICU admission are much less now. Active cases , daily new cases and daily death rates all are down. We should give lots of credit to the doctors, nurses and other health providers in Pakistan and also to the government for managing the situation very well. They have right people for the job, particularly the federal health minister Zafar Mirza is a very qualified person to handle his kind of situation. I personally did not talk to him but have participated in many zoom conferences with his team , they are really very qualified and smart people. There is a serious risk for another surge after Eid and Muharram.

I highly suspect that Pakistan’s numbers are even anywhere near accurate.

If number of cases were increasing, the number of patients requiring immediate/critical treatments would have also surged. (Very unlikely if someone is dying and you don't bring him to the hospital)

Or just going down after hitting the peak as in Italy, Iran etc ? Asking you because you don't seem like a Kaali daal follower so expecting an honest answer.

People in cities have been using masks and sanitizers etc so that may have helped a bit. But generally I think the virus has died down here after hitting the peak because there were no restrictions in place since end of april. I don't think this has anything to do with smart/selected lovkdowns because even during those lockdowns everything was business as usual. They were just PR stunt from PTI just like their other so called initiatives which only exist in social media/overseas pakistani pages. Norman 1

You're right, stats and numbers could be misleading, but we have been making zoom rounds in ICUs for many hospitals in Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar. The number of patients in ICUs and daily death rate was overwhelming . Hospitals were running out of ICU beds, but now, we're still making rounds in the same hospitals , there are not too many covid 19 patients, not even 1/3 compared to what they had at peak.

I think when technical people running a department it makes difference. Health department in Pakistan at Federal level and in Punjab is being run by very capable people, particularly at federal level, hence the positive results. When politicians without any particular skill and knowledge ( Like Sheikh Rashid, railway minister ) running some ministry you can see the mess they create . IK has appointed more technocrates at key posts than any previous government and his government is not hesitant to ask for help from overseas Pakistanis on technical issues. Iconoclast and Norman 2

Herd immunity can only be achieved with roughly 50-60 percent having developed immunity. That isn’t the case for any country at this stage. With Eid coming up, you will see a spike in cases again. Ignore the phenku above. But still infection rate has reduced. It could also be the virus strain getting weaker Alam_dar 1
Adi_91 Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Expecting honesty with reporting numbers from a country ruled by army and a puppet PM is the last thing one can hope for.
