Which bowling attack do you prefer?

Tests

 

• 70s: Lillee, Roberts, Botham/Thomson/Holding, and Chandra
• 80s: Marshall, Hadlee, Garner, and Imran/Qadir (if spin is needed but these bowlers are good in all conditions)  
• 90s: Ambrose, Donald, Wasim/Waqar, and Warne
• 00s: Steyn, McGrath, Bond/Akthar/Pollock, and Murali 

 

Which bowling attack do you prefer from the above?

Where does it say that they are from different times?  ..... They are just in different teams and so are many of those who have played in multiple decades

if i am the captain of a team and have to choose one attack out of these , I will Pick

 

80s: Marshall, Hadlee, Garner, and Imran/Qadir (if spin is needed but these bowlers are good in all conditions)  

 

Malcomn Marshall was 90 to 95 MPH and a 5 10" short sized fast bowler who was a little slower than Shoiab Akhtar , I would prefer to replace him with akhtar but since i cannot replace so i will go with him as he was nearly as good as Akhtar. malcom is better than donald and was some times unplayable.

GARNER JOel was a 7 ft demon with a lot of bounce and any day when he stretched hard , he picked wickets almost at will. garner was probably better than ambrose.

Hadlee- Most Skilled medium fast bowler with some batting skills too.

qadir--a genuine legspinner and imran , a very good medium fast bowler.

Murli retired in 2011. Played more years in 2000s. McGrath had 7 years in 90s, 7 in 2000s. So can be picked in both teams. Warne had more years in 90s than 2000s.

Garner wasn't 7 feet. He was 6 foot 7 or 8,  2.03 meters. FYI, Kyle Jamieson is 6 feet 8 at 2.04 meters. Chris tremlett is 6 feet 7. Billy Stanlake is 6 feet 8 at 2.04 meters. Curtly Ambrose 6 feet 7.

 i think the op dint mean to box them perhaps just a way of identifiying teams.

Will go with the above. Lacks a quality spinner like Warne, Murali, and Chandra, but Qadir if required can do the job. What it gives up in spin, it makes up with bowlers who have performed almost everywhere .... Marshall-Hadlee combo is difficult to give up .... As a bonus -> Hadlee, Marshal, and Imran are all-rounders/mini-allrounders, while Garner can bat too, which adds meaningful batting depth to a line up

Accounting for playing against strong sides, below is how the teams could give runs per inning in general:

• 80s: 219
• 90s: 240
• 70s: 250
• 00s: 255

i meant garner was the tallest and also a strong chap with capability to take wickets /hurt batsman and create a scare at will.

i think he was taller than ambrose too..so probably the tallest fast bowler playing international cricket along with Bruce reid ( australian bowler who was tall but very weak).

I would go with 90s with Wasim: left arm angle + swing and reverse,  greatest wrist spinner in Warne , genuine pace with Donald and Ambrose, and Ambrose awkward bounce

There was an article published on cricinfo in 2008 that ranked bowlers based on picking up high quality wkts. A BQI (Batting Quality Index) was calculated by adding the averages of all the batsmen that the bowler got out and dividing the total by number of wkts. BQI was then compared to the bowling average.

^ Based on the above type of analyses, someone like Wasim is overrated in tests, while someone like Pollock underrated.
