SecondSlip Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 1. Rohit Sharma 2. Shikhar Dhawan 3. Virat Kohli (C) 4. Shreyas Iyer 5. KL Rahul (WK) 6. Hardik Pandya 7. Ravindra Jadeja 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar 9. Kuldeep Yadav 10. Mohammad Shami 11. Jasprit Bumrah 12. Yuzvendra Chahal 13. Mayank Agarwal 14. Manish Pandey 15. Navdeep Saini 16. Rishabh Pant (WK) This would be my squad with the top 11 being the Starting XI!
Ankit_sharma03 Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 (edited) Pant Rohit Kohli Iyer Rahul Jadeja/ axar (needs to be seen who adds more value) Hardik bhuvi Saini Bumrah Chahal Shami Shaw Gill Kuldeep Prasidh/Rajpoot Pant is too good a player to sit out, somehow he needs to be adjusted and Rahul keeping in long term in ODI is foolish. Lets try pant at opening slot Shami fitness needs to be seen as he is not getting any younger Shaw n Gill has to be in scheme of things now Dhawan question has to be asked again specially with 2 t20 Wc in line there wud be a lot of t20 cricket and ODI wud take backseat so he only gets left with ODI also he aint getting any younger Edited July 2, 2020 by Ankit_sharma03
Gollum Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Pant (wk) Rohit (c) Kohli Iyer KL Pandya Gopal Deepak Chahar Kuldeep Saini Bumrah Shaw, Gill, Rahul Chahar, Krunal, Prasidh, Rajpoot should be in the scheme of things. Rasgulla 1
Gollum Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 I'll make a change and put Gill in place of Kohli. Next 2 ICC events are T20 WCs and lot of tests incl SENA tours, so Kohli can spend some time away from ODIs. Even if he loses momentum no problem since don't expect much from the choker in the next WC anyway. Rest Sharma every now and then and play Shaw, KL or Shreyas can take captaincy role in that case.

Sandeep99 Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Rahul/Pant Rohit Lolli Iyer Pant/Rahul Gill Padya Jadeja Saini Bumrah Kuldeep Chahal Shaw Bhuvi Shami Ideally we should really start looking at 2023 and get rid of obvious deadwood. But with Lolli as the captain, don't see that happening.
Sandeep99 Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Think of England squad of 2019. They have stroke players like Buttler, Moeen coming at 6,7.. after 40 overs we should have someone like a Gill take control while Pandya and Jadeja can slog. Bottomline - STROKE PLAYERS IN THE LOWER MIDDLE ORDER
Sandeep99 Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Also the same English squad only fielded specialist fast bowlers if they're extremely pacy like Plunkett, Jofra or Wood. If you're somelie like a Woakes, you need to have bare minimum credentials with the bat to get in.

Considering 2023 will be played in India...Kohli will try to take the same approach as 2011 i.e pack the team with experienced superstars as a last hurrah. Unless likes of Gill/Shaw etc. perform exceptionally before that...dont expect anyone to be in the team. Remember how Rohit Sharma missed the 2011 WC? I wont be surprised if MSD makes into the 2023 WC squad as his last WC.
YCCC Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Who knows when “post Covid” is going to be. Could be a load of unknown players at this rate
