Can Hardik Pandya play as a batsman alone in ODIs if he cant bowl anymore?

Pandya has that temperament that few players have.  He may not be the fastest bowler, or the best batsman - but he's a fighter who backs himself, and more often than not, is able to deliver on that self-belief.  Its a rare thing that temperament, almost as rare as India having a pace bowling allrounder, or a high-quality power hitter down the order who can reliably deliver consistently.

and he is a quick learner, ppl forget he was fast tracked and hasnt played a lot of domestic .

played well certainly not a long term no 6 in my opinion.. can do so on pattas against mediocre bowling. in fact this whole team has incorrect order. rahul should be opening and gill should be no 4 to milk the singles.

Gill is no fool.  He knows top order batsmen become the "stars" in Indian cricket.  He converted from #3 batsman to "opener" for his ranji team.  He will do everything he can to stay a "top order" caste batsman.  

 

Is Bunty Sajdeh managing his business and endorsements? Which talent agency 'runs' him?

scored against cummins, starc, hazelwood in game one and Aus Wc game, bashed rabada n nortje in iPL.....didnt knew these are mediocre bowlers

credit to him for playing well but his batting doesn't inspire confidence do it consistently. even jadeja has scored here and he is not someone who i would trust to win you games with the bat consistently. i would be happy to be proven wrong though.

 

you are too influenced by IPL/T20s and england "beastly" batting...regarding england firstly they copied India model from 2011 to attack and post big scores to compensate mediocre bowling. now they are blessed with quality allrounders and attacking players coming up which is giving them confidence to post big scores on a consistent basis.

yea coz he has been doing the role of hitter and hitter job is to hit not save wkt .

What consistency u expect from iyer or manish who have their set of weakness n have also flopped . its basically a myth in head that someone who plays fast cant be consistent and someone who plays slow can build innigs better

I dnt have to see  IPL too know pandya quality, also IPL shows some signs . Pandya record against Aus speaks for himself
