In the second one you posted, everyone except Dravid ( who got out for 1) had a higher strike rate than Sachin not just Ganguly ( he played a blinder that match). Don't even get me started on the SL match. Jayasuriya is a team man so was every SL player and that continues even today. SL with its meagre resources and limited cricketers have punched above their weight. I know in one of the cup finals Kalu was nearing his century and with 11 overs to go, he told Jayasuriya who came at 4 to go for it. This is the match and Jayasuriya finished it off with a six

That "Karthik should have allowed ...." is a sick headline from a country that does not know how to play team sports :((

think about it if say a bowler has 4 wickets and wants a 5fer, do the other bowlers underperform or get trashed with the same headline. I know of one instance where Srinath bowled wides to enable Kumble to get a 10fer. Luckily we had a 200 run buffer and a day to play or else we would be in deep sh1t. But bowlers dont have the same luxury. This country is not the ideal place for team sports. During PT period in our school, we had a foot ball session where everyone was chasing after the football and no one was defending . We had a good basketball and volleyball team though. Our PT teacher was interested in those sports and we did well there. In places like Aus and NZ, if you're not playing for the team's cause, you won't last even in school sports. its drilled at an early age.

Exactly, in a team sports environment, personal records do not matter. The team has picked you to make it win (not to use the team to get to a personal milestone). In soccer, if someone has scored 2 goals and if someone scores the 3rd goal, the newspapers in Ind could say "xyz should have allowed abc to get a hattrick" :hehe: .... one should NOT play for records, which should be the byproducts of your performance for "your team"

Yeah if you check the English ODI squad that won the WC, nobody I know knew how much they scored individually but we know Stokes played a crucial innings. Likewise Williamson and Taylor scored important runs in the SF. We should overhaul our team culture like Eng did. BCCI seems like a govt office :yawn2:

One of the reasons, I have shifted to supporting impact and team focused players!

Some  people cannot understand simple things. To win you need talent one or two players cannot take you to promise land. They are making this unbalanced  team stay relevant .No one is stopping other players from performing. Kohli is dud okay, he chokes under pressure, what happened to others were they sleeping.

One of Kohli chamcha is whining about lack of talent in the team,ok

He fails to convince each time why does his star studded talent filled to the brim IPL side fails everytime each year and fights for the wooden spoon?

Oh my bad IPL isn't the benchmark

The irony of Kohli PR saying this. For them their master is where cricket begins and ends. India has got no talent, youngsters prefer IPL over national team and Kohli is the best ever captain sporting world has seen.

In a team sport, a toxic leader or an obnoxious leadership group, with a knack of chopping and changing as per one individual's whims (and ZERO tournament wins), makes players insecure. In our case, such insecurities are further amplified by an intensely insecure and megalomaniacal joker, who is not even willing to bat lower down the order in dead rubbers. All this when he himself was a beneficiary of his seniors moving up and down to accomodate him and get properly groomed. But then we have got no talent :phehe:
