In T20's yes, Siraj is extremely mercurial..when he starts leaking runs it's difficult to plug the gaps, plus he looks confused as well when hit. Siraj is tailor made for Tests. He is returning after a long break but still landed most balls in good areas and bowled to a plan too. And he bowled perfect yorkers and bouncers at will. As Bishop pointed out, going at 9 runs an over on a super flat pitch where the innings run rate is 10, is quite good and it has to be considered in this context. I think he clocked around 147ish in the speed contest. Imran was at 139ish. The 99.7 was the highest clocked delivery he had. Ofcourse, if one was to believe him he used to bowl around 175 k's every other day. Vilander, Mosher, Forward Defence and 3 others 4 2
Rightarmfast Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 My 2 pence on Umran is, it shouldnt matter to him whether he is going for runs or not. Focus should be on speed. Good to see that is exactly what he is doing. The next big step is to see if he can sustain the high pace in the longer version of the game. Thats going to be the ultimate test. Umran will only be used as a demolisher rather than a work horse. Max 3-4 overs at one go in tests. He will only be used to shock batsmen. The current management knows it well, and so does the cricket captain and players. Dont think there is any possibility in the world that he can be ignored now. Feel for bowlers like Nagarkoti. They couldnt make hay while the sun was shining. Looks even more difficult for such bowlers to break in, into the team now. It is the Nagarkotti kind of bowlers who need to ensure they dont go for runs, without losing out on speed. They are the 2nd tier of bowlers now. Umran is already in the top tier, having broken such speed records which are impossible to be recognized by one and all. raki05, Suhaan and Vilander 3
nsareen Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 i feel he has done enough to showcase what he can do, he should be given a break & bought back in slightly favourable pitches not on these flat pattas, if he is smart he would know India jersey is just months away & he should focus on staying fit , next goal international matches , fo boost confidence he should ply a few matches against zim ban sri before going to play aus nz sa eng..Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Suhaan and Vilander 2

nsareen Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 on the topic of speeds can somebody post height of cricket stadiums where fastest balls were recorded.e.g cape town cricket stadium is 6000 ft above sea level.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The speeds of the west Indians were quite underwhelming. But just as an aside it is amply evident that Thomson was the quickest of his era followed by Holding probably. express bowling, Rightarmfast and tweaker 3

Kumara was effortlessly bowling 149-150k there in T20s. Ball travels there very fast.

But his job is to note such events he could have said something on the lines of 157k could not help he still hits a four or something like that. Just overall a small statured individual with fake humility as a coping mech for his own inabilities.
