When a guy is weak against spin but plays pace well, they will pick a quick bowler. Plus sen went for 20. Risk averse ipl people will refrain from taking another risk. Hence he wasn't bowled.

Slingers generally struggle with the red ball. Yes that's true. If you are strong and have good stamina then age doesn't matter. Athelte prime is 28-34 in most sports. Strength is the last to go. So if this bloke is over 30 he still has a few good years left. India and pak should just develop bowlers that can last 3 or 4 years and then upgrade. None of these wastrel want to play longer and become legends. Don't waste time. Once the 4 year quota is done dump them like how you would dump your faces. Edited April 30, 2023 by Jay ABDfan 1

How he handles the workload remains to be seen. We have seen this film before though your bowlers really struggle in Test cricket. Pak don't have fitness, strength to compete in tests. They will be a force in t20 and good in odi. They should focus entirely on LOI. Have a feeling pak will upset England and kiwis again in KO of world cup. India will pick their usual quota selections and bomb out in semis. Pak to win the world cup in India.
tapandrun Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 (edited) All upcoming Ind bowler looked unsure and insecure so far, either they do not know/have game plan or they donot know how to execute them. Umaran till now has neither been super quick nor accurate. One would understand if he was trying to cut-off pace to gain more control but he showed no control. Bowled only 17 overs in 7 matches. Sen today only bowled 1 over giving away 20 runs, its v.hard for a team to comeback from that while bowling second, 18+ run in an over can change the entire-out come of the match. Rana looked good in 1 match but need to see more, looks like only has in-swinger/ball coming in right now will be hard for him in t20 to be economically if he bowls in straight lines, I guess that's why KKR was not playing him. But has shown good pace and bounce -A test prospect may be ??? Arshad looked okay in this match - Need to bowl more balls in high 140s Arjun, Akash-CSK, Mukesh kumar does not look like intnl quality, not sure what Selectors are seeing in Kumar , may be another Shami short but skiddy and fast with a good bouncers, Kumar lacks all these. These bowlers have to come-up with plan if they can bowl fast then bowl fast into the Stumps or target batters body. Deshpandey is getting wkts but his economy his on high side, plus he is nt that tall to be good in intnl cricket but certainly has pace- better than few younger bowlers. Markande and Suryash looked good too, not much being talked about Markande but he has been economical and picking wkts for Srh. Edited May 1, 2023 by tapandrun
Lone Wolf Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Think outta all young pacers Harshit Rana is ready for a Test debut. Imagine him bowling in Sabina Park Jamaica. That Bumrah spell comes to mind. Kuldeep Sen should be tried in ODIs. Keep Umran in the squad & play him some low intensity games or on fast pitches. Selectors needs to have a roadmap if we have to develop a solid pool to replace likes of Shami Umesh in Test cricket. singhvivek141 1

Harshit is good but Kuldeep for me is most impressive talent for tests and odi's than t20's. Watch his brilliant spell in Irani Cup. Blew away the batsman with pace and bounce. Pujara too found his pace and bounce too hot to handle and got out to him cheaply in both innings. Tyagi is another very good talent and can be an all format player for India in future. Sen, Harshit, Tyagi needs to be groomed and be next in line to replace Umesh and Shami in tests. Umran can be useful in odi and has a role to play in middle overs to pick wickets. zaheer Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Read this on social media. I’m not sure if this is the exact reason, but since umran got into NCA, he started pulling back his length a lot. He was exciting to watch when he was unpredictable in his line and length. Even the batters found it hard to guess. He used to bowl full at an inconsistent basis, but that used to trouble the batters especially the domestic uncapped ones. Batters struggle to play of the front foot while facing express pace. But Umran since getting into NCA and debuting for India started to bowl more short length and he got his Avg pace down to 145. Now the batters are waiting on back foot for his balls. His pace too isn’t hurrying the batsman much. Sadly, he has gotten too predictable with his line and length. tweaker, express bowling, Lone Wolf and 1 other 1 3

Bozos must be thinking to use him like Archer or Nortje when they are taller to extract bounce. Umran actually comes from Waqar Younis school of bowling. His unpredictability & raw pace was his plus point. Case of too many cooks perhaps.

I was expecting Sen to bolw that last over..I am very much confident he would hv been able to save thsoe runs against Tim David..Tim David even though he has hit some good innings..I felt he is lucky to be served so many full tosses\lentgh balls this IPL.. express bowling 1
