Yea because those players would do so well in bouncy dangerous conditions.

Viv dint even face his own bowlers who were the best at the time.

We had better suited players for bouncy conditions on bench. Dunderhead chutiya always picks his mates over deserving players.

Who were those players? Please enlighten me. Was it Rahane? The same weed that we are trying to scrub out of the team or maybe it was someone else?

The backup batting of the Australian team of the early '00s was very good.

And they has a great backup spinner in McGill.

But their backup pacers were just about ok.

Players peak at different stages. Rahane was in good form overseas at the time.

Rahane now is fodder. Rahane at the time was good. He also dropped Pujara lmao.

It took him 4 years to realise that Jadeja and Ashwin work well even in away tours.

Continued to play Dhawan and Vijay despite knowing they were past it in tests.

Playing Rahul as an opener when he clearly is weak vs swing. Should have been at 5 or 6 vs tired bowlers.

Lets first win WTC and then england series before we go around calling ourselves greatest of them all. Dont forget we needed dust bowl to beat england. On a good track they spanked us.

good track why cause they won a toss and batted first? flat pitch is good now ? flat deteriorating pitch ?

the last test was a good pitch and englund got their ass spanked hard.

The 1st test defeat did hurt & England were in red hot form as well.  I think WTC qualification played a massive role in India resorting to dust bowls otherwise Eng India series could have been seriously close one like the one against Aus in 2017 & we know Root is lucky with tosses as well.

However India had every right to prepare the pitch that suits them but as 1st test showed England definitely had the team.

Nope its totally fair to have home advantage.  I don't think last time we had green tops except Lords but this time perhaps we will see more than one.  I think Leeds & Lords will definately be extra seamer friendly & I hope Siraj gets to play in those.

NZ have probably taken it to extremes against SC teams.  Earlier it used to be only India but now they do this to everyone.

Our Indian twits will go out of their way to insult our own team to play to our strengths rofl but when their whitelord chutiya doctors their pitch it's ok because well....

As far as I know Indians don't doctor pitches.  Our pitches are either flat or spin friendly.  South Africa doctored their pitches last time clearly & paid the price in Joburg.  NZ has been doing this to us since 2002.

Controversial opinion - Indian youngsters are over glorified and over hyped except maybe Pant. Haven't seen Gill play a single decent innings and a shot towards off side in the recent IPL. He looked like a rabbit in the headlights against Anderson in India in the sweltering heat of Amdavad. Sundar is going to end up as a typical average Tamil Nadu player - million chances and nothing to write home about except an assault or two over Rubel Hussain. Jaiswals, Padikkals, Shaws are average IPL hacks and will do ziilch in real cricket.

shaw will be the next Sehwag

paddikal will be star in short format

jaiswal will develop into a superstar batsman

gill will be one of the best players ever.

this will happen.

pant is already an ATG and will go down as greater than kohli.

I think barring Pant nobody will have a too long career as Talent pool is getting much much wider.  Competition is gonna get much stiff.  4-5 years from now if you fail in a series or two..  They'll get replaced straightaway.  Nobody will get the luxury of Kohli or Rohit & failures won't be tolerated as easily.

However as long as we keep winning ICC trophies & SENA tests who cares

He was the star of Gabba chase

Sundar already has 3 fifties. Can replace Ashwin once he retires if he works on bowling

Absolutely. You either need to be a match winner or extremely consistent to get picked for India.

Or you got to be like a wall for example, puju. Defend till you break opponents like Pujara broke Hazelwood, Starc and Cummins. Not my preferred style though as puji takes way too many hits to the body.

Vihai has the better technique. He can do what he does in the future.
