ravishingravi Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Feroz Khan was a very talented director. Till 80s, perhaps.

It had racing sequences in Europe. Of course, Dharmatma & Qurbani are big blockbusters and all time classics. Dharmatma took his career to new highs If I am not wrong, he used to put everything he had (in terms of $$$) on the table for his films so it is good to see that he got good rewards for taking such risks ravishingravi 1

Self made man. Liberal in truest. Some of the stuff from Qurbani still looks so good. The jump cuts and zoom ins.

Look at him in this song from Dharmatma below - dressed in blue, the dame is in contrasting yellow, and the SL in the background: Edited May 27, 2021 by zen ravishingravi, Vilander and Under_Score 3

coffee_rules Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 (edited) Sorry, zen. This is a laughable movie, songs are great, okay for a Hindi movie, but not a masterpiece to be compared to Godfather. Locales in 70s Afghanistan is superb, Rekha and Hemamalini look good., but that’s it. Sarkar 1 is still the best adaptation of Godfather for an Indian movie Edited May 27, 2021 by coffee_rules

Sarkar 1 is still the best adaptation of Godfather for an Indian movie I would not compare it to Godfather as Bollywood films are made differently but will hold Dharmatma as the best adaption of Godfather by Bollywood ... Sarkar was good too but not something I would revisit ... Dharmatma, I can watch multiple times coffee_rules 1

I have not watched Nayakan so can’t comment. If I am not wrong, one of the conditions to remake Nayakan was that it should be adapted as is without changes. Therefore, Dayavan could not be adapted to the tastes of the Bollywood audiences at that time.
