Talent hunts, open sports institutions & cricket should only get few percentage of revenue that we generate. We anyways not winning ICC trophies.. So screw cricket. Our whole sports culture needs to change to make things happen. It would take a cultural shift in India for this to happen, but I think in time it could happen. Indian cricketers today are in better shape physically then from previous generations, I think if they applied this to other sports, there is scope for India to take other sports more seriously like soccer as an example.

But Indian kids when they get older have no idea how to be independent, think critically etc, this comes down to education and practical skills. I have had a couple of Indian students staying at our place, they had just arrived in Australia for studies and I let them stay with us until they found their feet. Now I have done this with a lot of students from other countries who have stayed with us. These Indian kids had no idea, they expected my wife and myself to clean their dishes, cook for them, clean their rooms, which was always in a filthy state, they always complained Australia is this and that, it's so expensive blah, blah. Not saying all Indians kids are like that, but it got so bad we had to kick them out. And this happens because in India they have someone always taking care of them, they have a maid, or their mom and dad, they are always mollycoddled always someone there to clean up their mess. And that attitude does not fly in Western countries, where at 15 kids get a job at McDonalds etc and they learn how to be independent and self-sufficient. I know my young cousins in India would never survive if they didn't have someone taking care of them all the time. Another massive problem in India is the sex selection, when our family found out our fist child was a girl they tried putting pressure on her to get rid of the baby, and it got worse when we had our second daughter. We have cut off most of our family because of that, and we are glad we did, this attitude needs to change in India. I also believe its a generational thing as well, your children's children will grow up in Australia and should have advantages of both an Indian upbringing and the benefits of living in Australia. I appreciate youre not generalizing and that youre basing it on observations you have seen yourself, which I believe are a fair call too. Vk1 1

Soccer would be the easiest sport for India to do well at and there is a lot of money in it as well, but I don't see India moving away from cricket. Look at what has happened to hockey in India, for being a powerhouse to completing failing. Now the Aussies have been winning trophies left, right and centre, that's the thing here in Australia when Aussies decide they want to do something, they end up dominating in that area. Also helps that Aussies are very competitive, guess it's the culture, look at AFL, rugby etc competitive sports where they are actually killing themselves on the field. Read somewhere Aussies are now tying their hand at Kabaddi as well. Edited June 24, 2021 by SujitPrakash SRT100 1

Good. I actually mentioned to the mods/owners on here, that they should use the Bigfooty format on here, ie how the forum is designed and set up. Far superior than this forum is, in terms of use and accessibility.

I actually have theorized that one of the reasons Australia was and is so aggressive on the field, is a direct result of all the players following AFL and or Rugby. They spend all winter watching these games and it tends to rub off on them. The fact that Australia wins so many competitions, gold medals, etc etc and moves on the next day, is testament to how they manage to keep on being successful instead of basking in the glory of the wins, they focus on the next event. As I said, when Australia won the 2015 WC, there was hardly any celebrations and if there was it maybe lasted a night at most, footy season had just begun lol.

Think the AFL was on a week or two after the cricket that year, yeah Aussies move on quickly from winning. The things is Australia with 25 million people always finishes in the top 10 or so in international sports. Don't know what it is with Aussies, but I think it might be something to do with having a wide variety of sports, dance, etc to focus on? Edited June 25, 2021 by SujitPrakash

Variety of factors at play here, Australians have access to good quality food, water, health, education, training etc etc then you throw in genetics and you can see why Australians succeed a lot in a wide array of sports.

But its just not food, its the combination of the variables I stated, which in totality leads to success. I fully embrace Indians coming here, to either better their lives or their childrens lives. Sure most of them are in the service industry, but that will change in the future. Every new generation of migrants, did it hard initially, but over time they have succeeded in a variety of fields.
kepler37b Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 India's curse is diversity. Diversity breeds mistrust. And mistrust leads to apathy. And down the line these lead to inefficient institutions, horrible quality of public places and services. It also does not help that Hinduism is a highly personalized faith and does NOT emphasize on social cohesion. One the +ve side, India has much lesser violent crime, teen pregnancies and drug addiction. I would say Indians in general have a higher capability to resist "temptation". Again, the credit goes to Hinduism which puts the elevation of self at the center. coffee_rules and ash 1 1

We have people from every country on earth that call Australia home and we thrive in that diversity. Australia's strength is it's diversity, why can't India succeed? Australia for example kids are thought to think outside the box, to question their teachers and elders, that's why in the West you don't have people calling older people uncle and aunty when they don't know them. In resident ip's rank on nations India is at number 8 Russia at 7 China US France etc ahead of them. Canada a similar sized nation is at 14 guess where is stralaia 26 lulz.. .
