Total domination over defending gold medalists from Rio 2016. And some folks here were mocking this team, diminishing/cancelling our results of last 4 years. We may or may not medal but this is a legit top side.

@Gollum do we have any  impact players by ICF cricket definition in the hockey team (eg: Shaw,Pandya bros) or are those world class well rounded players?

The other group's top 4 is better than ours. Bel, Ger, Neth all can win gold. 

 

But qualification from our group is tougher. Aussies the only guarantee before the event started. 4 sides were in the fight for the other 3 spots: Ind, Arg, Spain, NZ. Japan being home side and the way they played the opener against Aus (leading 3-2 at one time), made things more interesting. Aus and Ind qualify now, 3 excellent teams to fight for 2 spots. 

 

On paper Spain is quite good but very old side, their legs won't last I think. They are going to get hammered against Aus tomorrow.

At least shooting guys, sania etc didn’t raise any hopes, hockey team, sindhu,Mary Kom etc have raised khaali phokat ke expectations
