He is an icon - but his attempts to groom the next gen is 0. Not sure why - Gopichand has been able to mentor and coach pretty much 100% of the Indian Badminton elite in the last 15 years. Everyone from Saina to Sindhu in womens. Srikanth Kidambi to Sai Praneeth in men, Sikka Rankireddy and Satwick in doubles and the Indian mixed doubles #1 is also from his academy. Hopefully Saina and others carry forward the amazing work

He looks like someone who is really involved. Also proves that best player does not make the best coach.

The shameful part is we have people like Shastri probably making x100 more than him.

He was the coach of indian team and also ran a large badminton academy. And people who excelled under his coaching were mostly from his academy.
