he'd have got ton in Ahmedabad if not for tail. And that was at 8

Because he has only batted low down the order. He is a proper batsman. Much better than Jaddu. Needs work on bowling. Batting is fine. Needs to catch a thing or two from Ashwin as an off spinner.

Yes. I want him as our spin alrounder overseas, should bat in top 6. If he bats at 5, we can have another specialist bat at 6. Pant 7 and then 4 seamers that may include Shardul at 8.

Sundar is still not ready as no.6 batsman. He is good at no.7. If Jaddu doesn't improve in one department significantly he will be the obvious replacement. He is only 21. Long term investment. Jaddu is already 32.  But ideally pick a fantastic top 6 and play Ashwin/Thakur. It is criminal to let his form go waste.

Sundar has been a top 6 batsman all his life. In fact, he is a specialist opener. Ashwin as a bowler won't be missed overseas. He is not gonna run through teams. It's the fast bowlers that will have to do the job. I could have played Ashwin only if fast bowlers struggled and Ashwin could win us the game by taking a 5-fer but we all know it is not gonna happen.  So which spinner we play isn't going to make much of a difference. How our fast bowlers do will. He can play in place of Jaddu but not in place of a fast bowler. Two spinners are overkill.

in terms of talent is proper but u also need to play up the order to learn how to build innings and make big scores. 

Jaddu also made 3-300s ......sundar is definitely better but a work in progress

 

All these Pujara, rahane, kohli, rohit rahane came after great domestic record. Even gill vihari n shaw have big numbers 

His progress will go further once he starts batting up n starts making big scores till then shudnt be considered as main batsman

 

Bowling wise fine in t20

As format gets longer lets see how much will he able to evolve if he decides to go towards being a batsman

he can play at 6 specially considering how our currents ones are struggling and the ones on bench also doesnt excite much but i wnt expect 100s from him or consistency

Till now he has been good but test begins when opposition starts to plan for u , that will be the same case for shardul the batsman

One slot is always open at home which we can use to play anyone a batsman or all rounder

 

TM shud decide whom they want to and let him play n grow at home. I think we all agreed for pandya when team was looking at him as all rounder for overseas. 

 

Extra seamer or Extra spinner wnt make much diff at home as Shami-umesh-Ashwin-jadeja are enough for any opposition

Sundar already learnt building innings at u19. He was a successful opener in 3 day u19 matches.

If spinners don't play any role why play any spinner at all. Why not just go with 6 full time batsmen and 4 seamers.  The thing is spinners have played a role in overseas wins. Just because Ashwin's hasn't gotten the opportunity till now doesn't mean he will never do it. If you really want a spinner to complement this fast bowling unit obvious choice would be Ashwin. Jadeja is a compromising choice because 3/4/5 suck and Pant is indifferent. Since Thakur and Umesh can bat, Jaddu's inclusion is not a must anymore.

Yes, he isn't. Spinners mature with age. There are no full fledged spinners at 21. But he will play as a 5th bowler holding option which he does well with and fast bowlers putting pressure from the end will definitely get him wickets. He is an accurate bowler which is the most important thing you need when batsmen are under pressure. He won't do worse than Jadeja as a bowler but a better batsman, will be handy against left handers too.

I am all in favour or Washington playing ... but he injured himself.

 

Hope to see him in the playing 11 in the next test series in place of Rahane.

wnt go that far as all our all rounder have some limitations so their wud be times B wud look better then A . So i expect a lot of inconsistency in selection

 

• For all the flak pandya got and comparison made to jaddu during last eng tour ,jaddu hasnt performed with bat...atleast pandya had a match winning spell 
• Sundar didnt look threatning with ball in Ind-ENg home series (on place he shud have with his pace) , so a captain is bound to look at someone like Axar

Spinners are usually played to change the pace for batsmen and catch up with over rate. If only four fast bowlers are bowling, imagine the over rate. Jaddu dies his 15 overs in 30 minutes. And if there is a bit of wear and tear, a spinner can come in to play but can't expect them to run through sides especially when both of them struggle to hit the footmarks. Both are wicket to wicket bowlers. 

 

Jaddu relatively did well today picking 2 for 50 but that took him 30 overs, strike rate of 90. Most of the time they won't get that many overs to bowl in a single innings like Lords they had 60 overs to bowl them out. Fast bowlers can take wickets at a better SR.
