I think they wanted to coincide the test with the late August bank holiday weekend.

Actually they also wanted to allow some players to participate in their flag ship the hundred eliminator and final. Players like moen ali, overton and Root will play the 100 eliminator and  final then comeback and play the 3rd test. Ali will captain the Phoenix in the final on 21st august, saturday

kuch bhi bolo, 2 aur 2 ka 22 banaa lo.

Am not joking, these players (Ali, root, overton and also vince and malan who have been added to 3rd test) are indeed playing the 100 last 2 matches in between. Also other players in the squad like Butler, Baristow, Curran  would have also played the 100 matches in between but their teams didnt qualify for last 2 matches

Now imagine india having ipl final between 2 test of the series and bumrah, rohit and jadeja playing IPL in between,  instead of training for next test, because MI and CSK were playing the final.

ECB is off their rocker.

Sure they are playing - the ECB is desperate to establish the 'hundred' as a T20 league because they see what the IPL,BBL have done for the rest of the big 3.

But its silly to think that the gap between T2 and T3 is because of the 'hundred'.  Such gaps have always been part of 5 test series.

So coincidently the only big gap was for the exact time when the hundred final was being played and the players from the test squad were participating . Sure, sure.

P.S. never seen a 9 day gap before in any big series except for australia christmas and boxing day

coincidentally, every time I farted during the T2D5, Shami hit a boundary.  Doesn't mean he hit one because of me farting.  But feel free to believe whatever you want.

Yeah now resort to crassness when you have no point. You claimed having 9 days break between tests is normal. Give examples apart from boxing day in australia

Do you understand this is openly acknowledged in british media that this schedule was for the 100 final  and there is debates going on about how much priority is being given to test cricket currently?

Dude sometimes its ok to be wrong and not everyone follows all news and leagues so people outside england won't know. But this is coming across as childish now

These 4-5 match long series' always have big breaks in the middle.

If I'm not wrong, there was an 8 day gap between the Boxing Day test and the SCG test on the Australian tour.

Actually Boxing Day Test is on 26th Dec and SCG Test is on 2nd Jan.

It was only because of COVID things changed down under.

As much as I have enjoyed the last Test, I much prefer watching cricket in India.

Aside from timing, I love the spinning/slow low turner tracks and I love how opposition captains get pissed off with them.

I also miss seeing Axar and Ashwin open the bowling lol.

Go check any other 5 test series played in England - Ashes etc - and see if they don't have a similar 7-10 day gap smack dab in the middle of the series. They always do.

Ashes is different though, huge marketing and advertising dollars prior leading up to each game.

Its the pinnacle of Australian and English cricket.

I am surprised in COVID environment it has been so spread out. Even if only a week or so.

I rarely watch any non-Indian Test cricket except for Ashes.

Do you watch Ashes 2.0 as well.

Nah, follow scorecards at the end of the day's play. Root for WI, of course.

Windies bowling first - Very high odds of Roach striking in his first few overs, and decent odds of a top order collapse to accompany it.  If 2 go down, I might check in on the match now and then.

Roach in his latter years has that Zaheer Khan post 2007 vibe, lot of nous, excellent control, to make up for the age and loss of pace.

Obviously in Australia so we get to see Australia throughout the summer.

Mind you I have gone some days without realising there is a game on in Australia, given Ive been watching cricket in India.

I get tired of seeing fast bowlers take all the wickets, I said it before but seeing Axar and Ashwin dismantle and destroy England was a thing of beauty.

Axar carried himself like he had the ability of fast bowler to be hostile and intimidate and harass. Ashwin just loves the left handed English players.

It was certainly fun. Going to be honest here though. I love pace more. I believe most people love watching fast bowlers.

In fairness I understand your reasoning. In Australia, basically all we get here is pace bowling mainly. So its kinda boring for me. In India, spin is the norm. So pace bowling on pitches that assist is different.

Nothing gets me more excited watching cricket, then seeing Jaddu, Ash, Axar bowl with fielders all around the bat on a dry dusty slow low turner in India and wicket being imminent.

Dont get me wrong, if India play teams like from Asia, I want to see pace bowling only. I just enjoy seeing SENA teams tormented, tortured and broken by spin.
