Pre- tournament speculation:

1. Pak - T20WC, a venue to channelize its recent frustrations/anger. A good team in these conditions. UAE has been its home venue (so if the home team winning trend continues). Also maybe it is time for a dark horse to win a cup but the team can also go off the rail

2. NZ - a strong batting, bowling, and fielding unit. Tends to do well in ICC events lately. 2015 WC F, 2016 T20WC SF, 2019 WC F, & 2021 WTC winner
3. WI - big hitters & experienced players can turn any game from any situation. Pollard, Russell, Bravo (bowling and batting well), Pooran, Hetmyer, Lewis,… (the who is who of T20 cricket). If the team plays to its potential, it will move to #1

4. Eng - deep batting line up that can be devastating if it clicks. Some useful bowlers as well. Morgan as captain

5. Aus, Ind, & SA - a good mix of bowlers and free flowing batsmen. For Aus, Maxwell is in form. Cummins and Starc can be handful. Ind would rely on its diverse bowling attack. SA is a dark horse that could run strongly in the tournament

8. AFG, BD, and SL - why not? Esp. if a few players show great form

11. Associates - who knows how the universe conspires to make a star of a team

If Ind does not make it, would like to see NZ & SA battle for their first LOI WC title. Both teams have won CT but not LOI WC.

India and Pakistan are favourites in these conditions.

Indian players are getting well used to the conditions due to IPL.

Pakistan will bring jaazba junoon after what happened to them in last few weeks.

I think repeat of 2007 with an Indo-Pak finale on the cards. Question is who will be our Joginder Sharma this time?

SA are the ultimate dark horses...  Guys like Markaram Qdk bulldozed lankans in T20Is on raging turners in Premadasa.

Spin attack of Maharaj Shamsi Linde good enough + Markaram can roll his arms as well.

Windies massive favorites.  They have more match winners than every team.  Batting depth is scary as f***  They have won WT20 twice in Asia already.

Australia one team that will love 140-150 run chases or scores.  Bowling attack & spinners have a lot of bite.  Maxwell Smith are excellent players of spin.  Inglis can be used anywhere in batting order.  360 degree player.

India  we are not favorites but we don't know exactly which India will turn up with all the chaos with Team selections & Kohli situation +  Thala is ultimate X factor.  India usually thrives under the pump like Pakistan.

Iyer must come in as he is invaluable in chasing or settling scores on ultra slower pitches.  That T20I decider vs BD we won due to his effort on a slow pitch.  Clutch inns.

Pakistan  Cornered tigers:phehe: nuff said plus they have NZ's number in ICC tourneys.

Bangladesh,  Sri lanka will add to the chaos vs Gora sides in both groups.

England was one of the favourites but not looking threatning anymore. No Ben Stokes or Archer is a huge blow. On top of that in these conditions, likes of Livingstone, Morgan or Jason Roy wont have much effect. I think they have missed a trick by not picking Joe Root. He is in terrific form and a top class player against spin bowling.
