In Test cricket against a team that is weak against vicious spin, the toss advantage is somewhat negated. if both teams are weak against spin( India has its own problems),batting first becomes massive. Same thing happened in 1st Test at home v Eng this year. By the team we batted,it started spinning big.

True, but even in that series, our better spinners (Axar and Ashwin) bowled better and contained better than theirs and their batting was far worse against the spinning ball. So we won. Both the team's struggled, but Eng's batting was worse than India's. NZ should be similar to Eng (hope it is).

So better team won. We got green mambas in NZ 2020. Matches last 2.5 days each. Turners are just revenge for them #HisaabBarabar Adi_91 1
kubrickian Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 (edited) Bowling looks alright but batting looks a bit weak on paper without Rohit, Kohli and Pant. A lot depends on Che Pujara because he is the best player of spin in this team. Santner, Ish Sodhi can do some damage I reckon. Edited November 14, 2021 by kubrickian

Home teams have a big advantage these days (exc maybe England).

Apart from those missing,Mayank and Rahul are good vs spin express bowling 1

He has played in Aus under difficult circumstances and then against Eng in the ODI series. Followed by a grueling IPL and another Eng test series in Eng followed by another IPL and a T20 WC. That is too much cricket if anything.

And was a key player in two of them. Not sure if he needs 'rest'

Because Ashwin, Jadeja, Axar, Umesh and Siraj are good enough to win in tests in India. But resting Rohit, Pant and Kohli clearly shows that international cricket is becoming secondary for the BCCI. Not good at all I was shocked to see a poor batting line-up being made even poorer against the No.1 test team in the world. i understand these tests are being played in INDIA. our batsman rock on Indian tracks. I dont see any issues at all. my prediction is 2-0 test win or if NZ plays well they may draw a game. Umesh is probably the no 1 pace bowler on INDIAN tracks for TESTS so it made full sense to give Bumrah and Shammi a well deserved break and let them recharge their knees. you have no idea that the knees permanently have minor issues and that leads to 5 percent less performance and that becomes hazardous. umesh ishant Prasidh and Siraj..only 2 will play and i think ishant and Umesh may play one test and in the other , it could be Siraj and Umesh. axar , jadoo and ashwin will play. they are playing jayant a traditional offspinner who is a high scoring batsman as well
