What is K Gowtham doing in XI? Couldn't understand why he is always around the team India A or CSK?

 

One match vs SL and we saw what kind of fraud he is. Totally unsuitable for International cricket.

Jalal Saxena is 100% better than him but he couldn't get enough chances.

Should have taken Sai Kishore over this Gowtham..  He looks bang average for T20 forget about tests. 

Umran has only bowled 3 overs so far.  Pitch is fairly flat & good for batting.

He is bowling after lunch now.  Probably using him in short bursts.

Yes ... this is Umran's first FC game and they will probably give him very short spells.

 

Will probably help him ease into the format.

Fitness is key for young guns. First work on that and then worry about technique. First sort out strength and fitness.

Saini is ineffective unless he bowls at 150 kph like he bowled in 2018.

 

Personally believe he is finished unless he reinvent himself as a t20 bowler hitting 150kph. That will be his value otherwise he will lose his IPL place as well bowling within himself just to prolong his career.

Gowtham as expected is giving one boundary ball per over.  Probably trying to dart everything.  His selection is beyond ridiculous.

He was doing okay in 2017-19 period but last few overs has become a complete defensive bowler with zero ability to deceive the batsmen in the air, again selectors found wanting in not watching games, Siddharth Desai, sai Kishore are a lot better put again nothing special. No off spinner of real quality tbh.

Yes, Off spin is dead in India.

 

Ashwin will play for 2-3 more years though.

Gowtham has regressed and Jalal Saxena is too old now. Washington is a darter.

 

Also, IPL doesn't reward the off spinners. Most of the team prefer left arm spin or leg spin.

I won't say it's completely dead yet, there are a few decent left armers, pretty sure a decent off spinner will come up soon.
