If Root gets a biggie here...  2nd inns can get interesting for Australia.  Buttler Pope Waokes are all stroke makers.  England has the tools to challenge Australia only if they can get their selections right

This is getting mildly interesting. :hmmm:

Still Stokes, Pope, Butler, Waokes and a handy tail to come.

Yes. 350 from here? Cummins is struggling right now.

Lyon might not make it to India test series looking at how he's bowling.  Ashton Agar will surely come in when they tour SC.

Hazelwood injured. Most likely jhye or neser in.

Agar or swepson? I wouldn't underestimate either. Agar can hurt us really bad with triumurti in.

See how Cummins struggling now without a partner. Same happened with bumrah last time when saini got injured. Extra workload which causes fatigue.

Attack won't be the same without hazelwood imo. More than Cummins, haxelwood Is More important In Australia. Cummins is their best bowler but hazlewood is easily on par in most places.

There was no reason to stick with Starc imo..  Warney was right.  Mike Neser has been one unlucky fella..  Any other team he would have got a fair amount of tests under him.  He's stuck with Aus A sides since forever.  Jhye here would have come very handy as well.

I told you before. Australia only cares about pace. They love fast bowlers. It's in the culture. Unless you have mcgrath level bounce plus skills, a guy like neser will never get picked especially without pace.

Jhye will get his chance when he maintains speed for longer than one game. He breaks down easy.

Nah Jhye was in ripping form in Shield games..  I watched some his spells were top draw.  He was getting good amount of bounce from good length.  Bowling at the top of off at reasonable pace.   Starc ain't surviving his test career if Poms some how save/win this test.

Speed. He is a fair bit slower. Australia only cares about speed. That's the issue.

If that was the case he wouldn't have been picked in the squad someone like Stanlake or Meredith would be there.  I think he'll play next D/N test in Adelaide.  Haze looks unfit..  Either him or Starc will get the boot.  Starc did well in last home Ashes probably saved him.  But he just can't put the ball in one spot most of the time.  Trash with older ball.

Also Shaheen Afridi looks like best left arm fast bowler in the world right now comfortably surpassing Starc & Boult.  Picking loads of wickets in Tests this year & we know he is a wicket taker in ODI T20 as well.  Whatta rise for him.   He can challenge Rabada's & Waqar record of fastest to 200 in terms of age...  At least figuratively speaking...  his real age may be 2-3 years here n there.

Stanlake and Meredith are cannon fodders in first class. Averaged 35 in first class and so does stanlake.

Starc averages 26 in first class. You have to be fast plus have a good average overall. Starc when he gets it right can rip through any team especially the tail. He will be handy in the last innings but he really struggles vs middle order.

Hazelwood is their best bowler imo in Australia. Even moreso than Cummins.

Outside Australia, probably Cummins but it's close.

He is definitely 26 not 22 or whatever his stated age is. But yes absolutely. Best left armer in the world. Too bad others bowl filth to support him. Want to see this shaheen play vs top sides. He still has serious issues with old ball however.

Hasan ali is as good as Shaheen in tests. He's actually better since he can also take wickets with older ball. If the Australia series happens, it'll be interesting to see how fare compared to Cummins and haze
