Three days later scored a grand duck in the final. So not making use of form. Same with Kohli. When last did he score v top 8 team in knockout?Atleast Virat bossed 2014 and 2016 WT20s and did well v Eng in CT final 2013 Vijy 1

There are plenty of options for opening I m pretty sure that's what he will do if the team can benefit from it. And the discussion in here is about hos captaincy and not batsmanship. It'll benefit him too as he wont have to face left arm swing first up. sarcastic 1

My point is if they reached sf or if in an icc tournament, they are strong enough to reach there. And also Bangladesh cannot be eternally a minnow. They have improved leaps and bounds in ODI cricket. Yet winning against them is important for India in any icc knockout and loosing is bad given their fans trolling. india will try not being that team to avoid that slander. A performance against them in such context is as good as one against a historically better ranked team.

Performances against tougher team and tougher bowling attacks in knockouts will always be rated higher.

If it is BD, then the performance does not matter is not the right attitude when the team passing an ICC knockout is at stake. I will not undermine such as performance because it is less reputable team. And your point is valid when we compare a similar performance by someone else in an ICC knockout against a tougher team and tougher bowling attack. Unfortunately, I don't seem to remember any performance like that from any Indian player in ODI cricket since 2011 world cup. Lord 1

Kohli saved us in CT 2013 final and did well in two WT20 knockouts.Doesnt have to be a ton.

I agree with T20s, he has done it. In CT 2013 it was a virtual T20. But nothing to take away from that too. That England of 2013 is also not a good ODI side with a test specialist Cook leading them. They did well in the tournament to reach Finals and hence the performance of Virat can be termed good but not because it is England. Similarly, BD of 2015 WC or CT 2017 are pretty good and were able to reach until knockouts because they played good cricket. Similarly, I don't rate Rohit Sharma's knocks against them any lesser than Kohli's CT knock. Edited December 11, 2021 by sarcastic
Chakdephatte Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Maybe I am overthinking. But this can be the reason for Sending SKY and Pant to open. They are virtual openers in collapse situations. Lord 1

But maybe in exceptional cases, we can send Pant to handle Shaheen, Boult, etc. But one thing is clear, the TM is not making random changes, every experiment has some explanation.

Any kind of movement and that guy is in big trouble .................even a much superior david warner was finding hard to play shaheen Kishen had one role to bat aggresively in PP and he failed at that to this yr...........i think his s/r now this yr in PP is around 110 Even warner didnt find it easy , if a guy is swinging the ball at that pace no one will find it easy If technical expertise is need rather rely on rahul-rohit who opens for us in test, yes they have failed against shaheen but if they are struggling what chance does kishen have who anyways has no great technique . Shadab can be handled by pant-pandya-sky
