Jhye Richardson - Next Ryan Harris ?

I had heard a lot about him from Aussie media and he seems like real deal. Pace, swing, nip. His action reminds me somewhat one of modern great Aussie bowling talents. Ryan Harris. Unfortunately Ryan’s career was cut short because of injuries but he played enough matches to display his genius. Jhye is not there yet. Another 3-4 years of international test cricket and this could be someone to reckon.

Michael Neser is the next Ryan Harris. Both made their test debut around the same age

Neser bowls 130-135. Harris was more 134-140. 

Jhye is 134-140 as well.

The only magic in Ryan Harris' bowling was his wrist position. 

 

There might be similarities in height or pace but Jhye is a  completely different bowler and I don't think he will be as threatening as Ryan Harris.

Harris had the ability to up the ante very much like Steyn in red ball cricket when he felt like,he could bowl in excess of 145 in some spells,he was basically a genuine fast bowler not a fast medium operator

He was fast medium mainly. He can crank it up but based on average speed he was more fast medium. 137 ish average. Like hazlewood.

Jhye will be handy pacer to have in England NZ conditions almost top draw.  He is 25 now so not a ideal Ryan Harris comparison who made his debut much much late.  Neser is perhaps his successor but Harris was a bit more skillful.

Not yet, Harris was much better though also a lot more experienced at that age IIRC.

No he was much quicker  than Hazelwood ever was

Yes, I remember in his early days he was easily clocking 145 plus and 150 plus on occasions. After the first major injury, it changed everything. He started his career also rather late at 29, if I recall.

Rhino (Ryan Harris) was a fantastic bowler. Had excellent stats, but could have been even greater if not for injuries that didn't allow him to operate at 100%. After McG and before Cummins, he was the best Ozzie pacer I've seen, better than Stuart Clark, etc.

Definitely. Would put hazlewood up there too.

Yes, Hazel is great too, but Rhino could crank it up a bit more. Could have been an ATG bowler. still finished with near-ATG stats.

Nha. He was never good enough in Asia. Ha e to excel in Asia to be co indeed as ATG. He was very good but not great. 

Cummins and hazel too need to prove themselves in India. Averages of 31 and 33 is not good enough.

Rhino didn't play much in Asia, but that's part of his larger injury issues. He did better than hazel in SL by far. you can check the numbers yourself.

Actually at his peak he would have created havoc in India with SG ball. Rhino could do conventional swing and reverse swing. Hazel is efficient. Ryan was genius with pace to burn.

those were incredibly flat tracks. I've seen every test in that series. it was the one where Goddy (Smith) and Kohli, but also other players (Vijay), scored insane amounts of runs. Had Harris played in 2018 or 2020 tours, his avg would have been lower, especially since our middle order was also stronger when he played.
