So looks like we're heading the route of England in football, though tbf they've done great in the last 2 or 3 major tournaments! Is it the weight of expectations, poor tactics, team combination, not reading conditions? What's the biggest or only block between us & another major trophy :questionmark:

At this point, I only have hopes on the combination of SDP-Pant being in the best flow to win India a tournament ... Usually, only such fearless cricketers can take on challenges of the world event

football competition is way, way more. even in euro cup, Eng is competing against Spain, France, germany, italy, and portugal; not all of these teams may be in prime form, but they all have class players who can come good. and in WC, there's the S. American teams and 1-2 decent/good ones from Asia and Africa. Eng in football has been much better than Ind in cricket over past few yrs IMO

I know & that's why I'm giving some credit to them, we have massively underachieved in cricket over the last decade or so!

The state of Indian fans summed up perfectly in this song.  Sari Raat Main Takni aa.  Can't believe a song from the 74 years ago was penned down for the Indian Cricket Team. Such genius :hatsoff:

saari raat tera takni aa rah,
taryea to puch chan ve
kyon mai tere piche hoyi aa tabah
laryea to puch chan ve

addi-addi raati vich bari te khaloni aa
bari te khaloni aa
tere piche hanjua de haar main paroni aa
haar main paroni aa
nale bhardi aa thande thande saah
sahariya to puch chan ve

Imagine if we choked in a WC final in the cricket equivalent of missing three penalties in a row

Would hurt more than our current situation

In 2011, India had Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Dhoni, a young Kohli (who was a good batsman even at that stage) - all match winners. Now India depends entirely on Kohli and Rohit. Dhawan used to be good for a while but now he is also done. If both of them get out cheaply, game is as good as finished.

What's the logical comparison of England football and Indian cricket team?

Biggest sport in respective countries, biggest domestic league, most money, most hype
