Not sure why people are shitting on Mayank. In Indian conditions, he might just be the most important player in Indian team. WC 2023 will be in India. He was better than that orange cap chaser in IPL too.

Mayank is good we are talking about in general strategy of TM whose intention is to protect top 3 position even in meaningless biletral. They don't want to try any youngsters there as they may have huge backlash owing to their current form in case youngsters chosen and perform.

Correct.

Mayank should do well. However he wont give the BCCI or TM the headaches of doing so well that they have to discard Dhawan.

more tuk-tuk time. TTT as it's called

Correct.

In ODI v WI, tuk tuk should be enough to win the series, which is what India only care about.

I would rather lose the series 0-3 and have us scoring above 350 each innings with a change to the batting approach, then to win 3-0 with par scores of 250.

Why is Mayank ahead in the pecking order..when Kishan is younger, more aggressive and has a 50 on debut

Ive explained this before its far easier for team management and the BCCI to drop Mayank as he will not do as well as Kishan or Dhawan. Even if Mayank scores well, it will  not be those electric starts you would expect from say Kishan, Shaw or Pant as opener.

If Kishan comes in and scores fast and gets big runs, it will make it much much harder for BCCI and TM to drop him and replace him with tuk tuk Dhawan.

Why will Mayank not do well? And he's quite a positive player too.

Both Shaw and Kishan scored fast in SL ODIs. Shaw was MOTM in first game. Hasnt played since that tour. So its not difficult to go back to 'experience' for these guys.
