This means India will have only five batters from the original squad to choose from for the first ODI: captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant and allrounder Deepak Hooda. Agarwal is likely to arrive in Ahmedabad on Thursday, which means he could slot into the XI for the first ODI, immediately after completing his three-day quarantine.
Majestic Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Why not Prithvi Shaw or Kishan? Cricket_Hacker, saik, SRT100 and 4 others 3 4
sandeep Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 (edited) Both should be playing. Edit: I was referring to the post below: 5 minutes ago, Majestic said: Why not Prithvi Shaw or Kishan? Edited February 2, 2022 by sandeep Vijy 1

Loss of S. Iyer is not a big issue in SC since we have able substitutes and we already know what Shreyas can and can't do. Loss of Gaekwad is a big minus since I wanted to see him get a run in top order (or even at no. 4). express bowling and Sgattick10 2

raki05 Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Yes, ideally Gill,Shaw or Kishan should have looped in but they will call test team players as an makeshift arrangement. Like they played that 32 year old no name spinner from test in SA odi. express bowling 1
SRT100 Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 I would open with Hitman and Pant. Lets try something different in this series, something out of the box. Lets give this combination, 3 matches and see what happens. Pant enjoys when there is less players on the boundary and the white ball is less dangerous than the red, so as an opener he should be in his element here. saik, raki05 and Vijy 3
Majestic Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) Watch our for them going back to opening with KL. Edited February 3, 2022 by Majestic

Clarke Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) How's Mayank in Vijay Hazare etc ? He might be a good fit for odis unlike tests in SENA, although Kishen or others could also do better. Edited February 3, 2022 by Clarke

As the next WC is in india, it won't be a bad idea to give him a go at the opening slot. Need a good back up if either of Rohit/Dhawan get injured during WC. KL should never open again for us, IMO. He is more suited for MO.
bahadur_billa Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 So Prithvi Shaw is not even the fourth choice opener.

Kishan should have been in for Shreyas too. Sgattick10, Cricspin, SRT100 and 2 others 3 2
ShoonyaSifar Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Rahul opened to protect Dhawan's place in SA (after Rohit's return) Now Mayank to protect Dhawan's place. He will be easier to discard. Shaw or Kishan, if they do wel will be more difficult to dislodge. Sgattick10, express bowling, saik and 1 other 4
ShoonyaSifar Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 While I am happy for Mayank, it's amazing how whenever players get injured, the replacements are generally more experienced players. raki05 1
