Should IPL finals be best of three??

Or the playoffs entirely?

It avoids any fluke wins where the team is good on their day and rewards consistency and the better team.

Recent examples were MI in 17 and 19, and KXIP in 14. And KKR beating DC last year was also a fluke.

RR would also have fared better in a BO3.

Most sports follow either a BO3, BO5, or BO7 format, with football having a two leg format.

Cricket should also have something similar. Even in intl tournaments.

Absolutely not, the tourmament is too long as it is.

Agreed. Also, it's not easy for teams to put in their best performance game after game. I find the qualifier to be a bit gimmicky. Why not have semi finals instead with #1 team playing #4 in one game and #3 and #4 battle it out in the other semi final?

Fortunately no upset in the final in 2022 … The team that topped the group easily, & won qualifier 1 in style also won the final

GT beat (smashed) RR, the 2nd best team in the competition, 3-0 -> once in league stage (only game), then in Q1, and the final.

As for the question, no. The format is in place after a lot of learnings.

The top two teams gets rewarded with a qualifier for winning and being runners up in a tough round robin group stage, where you have to play well to come at the top.

3-4 have to go through a normal knockout game. After the qualifier 1, it is knockout biz as usual.
