Spinner will always be just support bowler in SENA. Pacers have to do most of the job.

Correct but good spinners make their job easy by breaking partnerships
We have seen this in the past,a decent diverse attack has a good spinner
Yes Jadeja is worth his weight in Gold in this format,we can't have a spinner for a pacer in conditions like these

On a different note, when you drop crucial regulation catches ,it becomes more tough

Even Bumrah kept on bowling at the legs, they should have kept the run flow in check

Jadeja is more of a batting AR now. Bowling in SENA will always be support. He looked for economy as there was nothing in pitch

Although I found the over the wicket tactic weird.Too defensive but thats team thing.

Yes they should have stopped run flow by bowling on one side. Siraj was most disappointing

This Indian pace attack, despite having bowlers who can bowl at good speeds all day, is lacking mental aggression and hostility in 2022.

From 2016 to 2020, the same pacers were a lot more aggressive snd hostile.

Bumrah was the enforcer pacer from 2018 to 2020 and even in 2021, he did play this role from time to time. But in 2022, he just wants to be a swing bowler unless an opposition batsman gets under his skin. We hardly see any hostile short balls from time to time.

Shami bowled one or two quick bouncers almost every over from 2013 to 2020. But he too has mellowed down after that.

Now, they just want to be one trick ponies ... move the ball at pace and basically attack the stumps ... if the ball is not moving then bad luck, they ard prepared to lose the test match  ... they won't try anything else with any kind of intensity.

We badly need a tall, hit the deck bounce bowler in our ranks to shake things up. We need a new enforcer pacer who can attack the opposition batters when the ball is not moving

Doubt Dravid will allow any fast bowler...

He might bring Avesh on name of tall bowler.

This test match is lost because Jasprit Bumrah is no longer a hard length machine. He no longer generates the extra bounce and zip he was known for in 2018-19, pre-injury. Now he is a mediocre swing bowler, ala Broad.

At the same time, Rishabh Pant is no longer the elite cross-format player he promised to be in 2018-19. A combination of lack of backing, criticism, and poor fitness has seen to that.

Irrespective of their performances in this match, you must remember that the Bumrah and Pant of 2018-19 are gone, and will never come back. Their ceilings are now that of a normal Indian player. In 2018-19, they were so good they no longer looked like players from India...more  like from elite Aussie/West Indies of yore.

Bumrah got a lot of bounce and zip till mid 2021 England tour.

But from the 2nd tranche of IPL 2021, after the England tour, something changed.

He is just placing the ball there nowadays, albeit at high release speeds. But the life that he used to extract from the pitches till mid 2021 is largely missing.

This obsession to be a swing bowler has greatly reduced his ability to be an enforcer and hit the opposition hard when there is minimal movement on offer.

Strange post, you picked our best batsman and bowler from this match to criticize, what more do you expect from them, it's a team game at the end of day

If we are comparing players to their 2018&19 form, what about Kohli then?

t, you picked our best bat

The fact of the matter is, both Bumrah and Pant are now stereotypically Indian players. They now have a limited ceiling. They lost what made them special, and those special elements will never come back. They are too far gone away.

In 2018-19, Bumrah and Pant were so good, and so un-Indian, that they could be considered a dominant Aussie/Calypso players. Put 2018-19 Bumrah and Pant in the current team, and now India would be the best team in the world by far.

Now, you can expect to see Bumrah bowl a half-volley, looking for swing as though he is an Anderson, or a Broad. As such, when the pitch is flat, the opposition team bats with glee. They now know that Bumrah cannot bowl a hard length. Soon they will treat Bumrah with regularised disrespect, routinely.

every single bowler has regressed. bumrah is a "swing" bowler sans swing (unlike 40-yr-old Andie); shami is becoming an ishant, i.e., "unlucky" because he is not hitting the right lengths; thakur has become a true AR - can't bowl and can't bat anymore; siraj is bowling pies and is horrible; jaddu is now a pure batter and a part-time bowler whose ability is less than root bowling-wise.
