Chakdephatte Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 A thread to track any on-field moves by international cricket captains. Whatever team, doesn't matter.
Chakdephatte Posted July 24, 2022 Author Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) This match so far- •Dhawan brought Hooda (6th bowler) against two set batters in powerplay. •Bowled him six overs in a row. •Didn't overuse and brought Axar in 21st over. From West Indies perspective - •King at no.4. Bad decision, should have sent Pooran to throw Axar out of the game. Edited July 24, 2022 by Chakdephatte tweaker and sandeep 1 1
Chakdephatte Posted July 24, 2022 Author Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) Wonder what he would have done if they attacked Hooda more. The only thing that matters is your plan B when ppqn A fails. Edited July 24, 2022 by Chakdephatte sandeep 1
zen Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) Better to discuss regular captains (and vice captains) … Guys like Dhawan are only appointed as a stop gap solution (for their experience of being with the team for a long period) on a series to series basis (and also depending on the availability of other players)… They probably don’t even give too much thought on captaincy once the series is completed. I think its good to highlight and discuss these types of on-field tactics and game management decisions, regardless of who and where is captaining. Why do you have to unnecessarily be negative in a thread and then act all surprised and defensive when folks respond negatively to you. express bowling 1

I have not said not to track but “better” to track regular captains (and regular vice captains who captain where applicable). Not much merit in discussing captaincy of a stop gap (not even a future candidate for a long term assignment) captain leading a team without its key players (and many times when a team could be using these games to give new players more responsibilities) It is not necessary to evaluate every single thing just because it is happening esp. when there are no long term implications. You tend to get defensive when folks jump out at you or your opinions, but don't seem to realize that you are also guilty of that frequently. And then your defensiveness leads to silly stuff like "others are not smart enough to understand the sport like I do". You are a quality poster - that's a minority here in some ways, so don't get me wrong - don't mean to be harsh on you, just pointing something out that you may have missed. Up to you how you take it... zen 1

It's not for this match. I just thought of creating it today. Keep adding whenever you notice anything interesting. zen and sandeep 2

But I am giving my 2 cents on what is “better” to track (on a topic that wants to track such things) I have not said anything negative to the OP Edited July 24, 2022 by zen

Buddy, I get pointed out for my perception all the time - for wearing creased shirts (when I turn it into fashion), keeping a not perfectly styled beard (shaved it now) when many females outside were hitting at me for the beard (I had kept the beard to look relatively ordinary but it did not work), not exercising enough (when I tend to exercise for 1-2 hours almost daily), eating unhealthy foods (when I don’t even eat too much fried stuff), driving fast (when it is precision driving and those nagging me have got tickets), not watching too many Indian films (as if that me boring), etc., all the time Ghar ki murghi, …

Sure. Whatever floats your boat buddy. express bowling 1

Intially Rohit sharma was in plans in 2011 but kohli piled on runs so he broke the door thats what these guys needs to do. Someone like iyer who has his issues but atleast when gets runs gets them consistently which is why he is holding on too a place in squad
Chakdephatte Posted July 27, 2022 Author Posted July 27, 2022 (edited) Not on field decision, but why SKY batted above Samson? Later is comfortably better as a hitter. Edited July 27, 2022 by Chakdephatte
Chakdephatte Posted July 27, 2022 Author Posted July 27, 2022 India clearly taking data based decisions. Mayers out and Axar comes to bowl to two right-handers. Can he control the new ball, though?
