Frustrated Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Created this thread to throw some light on the performance of our openers. Before the tournament started, most of us (including myself) were of the opinion that our batting is one of the strongest. It's our bowling which is the weak link. But 3 games into the tournament, our batting has been pretty mediocre, especially the first 6 overs of powerplay. That's where the outcome of most t20 games are decided. It took a Kohli special to seal that game vs Pak in the last over, and we also had some luck going our way. Won't happen everytime. Here are our scores in the first 6 overs of PP: 31/3 vs Pak, 36/1 vs Neth, 33/3 vs SA. TBH, these look like the scorecard of an associate team. The common elements in all these games are Kela and Rohit (to some extent). If TM does not bring about changes in the opening slot, it will be curtains in the SF against NZ (assuming we make it to SF). SRT100 1
vvvslaxman Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Kela should come after ball gets sufficiently old and slips removed. He can maximize his contribution. This is not the time to continue giving him chances. They can do that after world T20. Frustrated, SRT100, Clarke and 1 other 1 3
GautiMaan Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 This is not a new issue, we had Rohit, KL, Kohli and their approach as top 3 was exposed in 2021 World Cup Rohit has made amends for it somewhat with aggressive intent and Kohli is rediscovering his mojo.As for KL his best performances in LOI for India have come in the middle order, getting Pant to open might just be the best way to get the best out of both Rahul and Pant but will the TM be brave in the middle of a World Cup remains to be seen

I actually thought our game vs Netherlands was very poor from a batting perspective. The start was like as if we were facing top line bowlers from NZ or Pakistan. SA just scored 200+ on the same pitch earlier in the day. Frustrated 1
Bigg Brother Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Rohit's talk of all the aggresive approach evaporated coz these guys aren't good enough for that kind of approach. In India its fine with 50-60 Mt boundaries and knee height bounce. Rahul was struggling to even touch the ball yesterday barring one six. This team and Rohit only deserve humiliation nothing else.. Frustrated and SRT100 1 1

Good post. Easy to talk tough and aggressive, its entirely another to carry it out. India got exposed badly. This batting lineup cannot and will not stand up to NZ,England or Australia or for that matter SA if they make it to a Final. Bigg Brother 1
Nikhil_cric Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 It's the conditions. These new kookaburra balls have prouder seams and an extra layer of lacquer. A lot more lateral movement . At a venue like Perth, you already have a lot of pace and bounce as well. Every team is struggling in the Powerplay. Having said that, under normal conditions, you can go hard at SCG and Adelaide.
neel roy Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Boss wht can you expect when when india has scored 58/8 bar suryas innings and extras. On top of that we were 23/0. So basically we lost 8 wickets for 35 runs.More disappointing is dk s innigs. We were bolt on to make 145 at over 15. That would have been a winning score. Till ball gets old it’s difficult to even put bat on ball when ball swings seams at 145. This was a test match wicket and after 15 overs india would have been 25/3 if it was in reality. The biggest fault was batting first when we all know we are good chasers irrespective of conditions.
Number Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 The conditions due to weather and early summer in Australia are helping seamers a lot in PP overs. Most of the openers have struggled.
Frustrated Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 We made 37/1 in 6 overs of PP. Toygers made 60/0 in 6 overs. Yes, we fluked this Win. But this fluke won't save us every time. We are worse than Toygers.
Frustrated Posted November 10, 2022 Author Posted November 10, 2022 SF update : Ind 38/1 in 6 overs. Eng 60/0
Frustrated Posted November 10, 2022 Author Posted November 10, 2022 Should be the Last update from my side since we hv been convincingly KOed, as expected. Atleast on a positive note, our team has been quite consistent in losing the KO.
