The Deepak Hooda conundrum

Not speaking of Hooda but in general.

Shankar, Rishi Dhawan, Binny, Dube all got chances because of their “allround” ability. Make whatever of that. :)

Even though can use Binny if he is available for the next game :giggle:

Axar patel = Hooda basically the same lol.  Team is scared of using his full quota. His batting is definitely less than that of Hooda. Axar would not have been playing ahead of Chahal but for his "imaginary" all round skills. Jaddu used the same strategy for a very very long time.  I don't think we have a proper T20 all rounder.  This is the squad we have. Rohit is not in touch. Rahul is not in touch. DK is a total flop. Kohli surprised us. Not sure how long it will last. Pandya against pace in these parts is as good as any tailender. That's it. That is all we have in the batting department. We don't even dominate spin. Needs some cushion.

I actually think he can work as an opener with Rohit. Just tell him to make full use of the powerplay (added bonus is that he has proved he can play long innings too). Also adds incredible depth to out batting as we can play one more specialist in the MO.

Hooda

Rohit

Kohli

Rahul

SKY

Pant

Pandya

Much much stronger looking batting order than the trash we have now.

Come on man. he is not that bad :) He still averages 36 @ 153 in T20. When he bats in top his averages is 52 at a  strike rate  of 161.

remove Ireland and its 20 @135

Hooda was never going to be in the starting XI. We thought Harshal and Chahal would start. How things have changed.  Most of them are misfits including Hooda.  But we have no choice but to bolster the weaker areas. Opening with Hooda is not a gamble. his wicket is dispensable. Yusuf didn't exactly bowl a lot of overs in 2007.  Just a pinch hitter. That's it.

Yusuf played one game and bowled one decent over.

He was not a finisher. That was exposed. If he batted in top 4 his average is 28 @146 minus Ireland/Afghanistan matches.

Well he is yet to bowl in any of the world T20. How do we know if he is trash or not on these big grounds.

19, 16, 1, 0, 6, 0, 1, 8, 8, 28, 23, 13   These are maxwell's last few innings scores lol Maxwell was definitely good. Now he is just a passenger.

Guys like Maxwell, Warner etc have a track record of raising their game in knockouts. Obviously time ticks for everyone but can’t compare Maxwell to guys like Rahul leave alone Hooda lol

a lot of tailender batsmen and part time pie chuckers would be considered allrounders in our team :phehe:

Thats how bad it is.

Guys like Rauf, Shaheen, Boult,Southee, Starc, Cummins, Rabada etc do a better job than some of our specialist hitters :)

And Axar is selected as he can tonk a few.. Bhaisaab Axar playing at 5 at MCG was pure comedy. And he is supposed to be an AR . Hooda was ready to go back to pavalion as soon as he missed the first ball,he was like ,"ab humse na ho payega" and then edged the 2nd one..:phehe:.

The day SKY fails and Kohli doesn't produce a magical innings we will be toast.  SKY is due for a failure.

He failed in the first match already. What do you mean by due?

Sometimes law of averages will catch up with him due to his high risk approach. He tried that ramp shot against Pakistan. Failed.  He attempted the same against SA. Luckily ball didn't catch the edge. Fans should be fully prepared for one of those days where his risks don't work.
