QuarantineTormentino Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Sir Jadeja currently has 2.5k runs at an average of 37 and 242 wickets at 25. Can he finish his career with 3k+runs @ 40+ and 300+wickets at 25 or below average? He’ll further cement his claim to being a genuine ATG all rounder in test cricket and will certainly be the first name on any ATG xi team sheet be it world xi or India xi
Gollum Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Almost all players decline in their final 2-3 years, and Indian players are notorious for stretching careers well beyond retirement age. So NO is the answer. Still a great test player in my eyes. He will never be the first name in world XI, neither in Indian AT XI. Not even close in the former case. nevada, Vijy, rollingstoned and 1 other 1 3
vvvslaxman Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 He would have but for his injury. This BD series he could have piled up a lot of runs. Now i am not sure.
Lord Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 unlikely. But still good numbers. Depends how much home and away he plays.
Vijy Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 not gonna happen. bowling avg will rise and batting avg will decline. may finish with stats not far removed from kapil (in terms of avgs)
Lord Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 For perspective, Stokes averages 36 and 32 and Shakib 38/31. Everyone else currently is worse. So he's doing fine. nevada 1

Lord Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Just now, Vijy said: yes, but his bowling is clearly on a downward trend due to fitness issues. in India he's still a good option. Batting has gone up. Vijy 1

vvvslaxman Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 By the look of it the injury he suffered is very bad injury. So we have to wait and see whether it impacts his game anyway. Vijy 1

BCCI was furious https://theprint.in/sport/bcci-furious-over-ravindra-jadejas-knee-injury-sources/1122996/ “He had to balance himself on some kind of a ski-board as part of an adventure activity – not part of the training manual at all. It was absolutely unnecessary. Searched more and this says it was part of BCCI's training activity only

Jaddu has been notorious with these moments... Asia cup game vs Afg the tied match.. An ODI in NZ in 2014... WC SF.. Almost choking in Asia Cup game1 vs Pak after all the hardwork. I don't recall but in IPL thread someone posted a list of his near misses in IPl too. Probably one big match winning performance at biggest stage will seal the deal. Pandya has more of them since 2016 his debut...
