No they are not

The BCCI has listed ten Indian cities and the venues in the tender document, which allows a single party to bid for more than one city. There is no base price set, and bids will be accepted for a ten-year period - 2023 to 2032. The ten shortlisted cities and venues are Ahmedabad (Narendra Modi Stadium, capacity 112,560), Kolkata (Eden Gardens, 65,000), Chennai (MA Chidambaram Stadium, 50,000), Bengaluru (M Chinnaswamy Stadium, 42,000), Delhi (Arun Jaitley Stadium, 55,000), Dharamsala (HPCA stadium, 20,900), Guwahati (Barsapara Stadium, 38,650), Indore (Holkar Stadium, 26,900), Lucknow (AB Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, 48,800) and Mumbai (Wankhede/DY Patil/Brabourne Stadiums).

Read this new report:

MUMBAI: The BCCI might stage the entire inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), scheduled to be held in March (March 4-26 likely dates), in Maharashtra itself, TOI has learnt. The 22 matches of the T20 league are likely to be held at three venues in Mumbai — the Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium at Cricket Club of India, the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, near Pune. The final is likely to be staged at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

What seems to have made the Board confident about staging the tournament is the phenomenal response of the crowds-47,000 fans turned up at the DY Patil Stadium for the second match during the T20I series between India and Australia in December-while even the Brabourne Stadium was almost full for the last three games. On the day the WPL teams were sold, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that it was the impressive crowd for the Women’s T20 Challenge final last year that convinced him to start the league in India.

So the BCCI wants companies to pick up franchises for different cities and get still hold the tournament in none of those cities? Is this how you Creat a fan base for a new team? However if you know apart from Mumbai you won’t get spectators anywhere else is there a point of doing a women’s IPL if there’s no demand

The key reason for limiting the tournament to one city is the potential logistical challenges the BCCI fears it could face due to the WPL starting close on the heels of the Women's T20 World Cup, which ends in South Africa on February 26. With less than a week available to fly to India, playing at just two venues in the same city would remove travel obstacles and keep players ready for the matches that will be played in a tight window.

What BS by BCCI. Seems like this tournament has been so hastily organised its like chaos.. im sure travelling from SA to India there must be multiple routes Delhi, Mumbai from which getting to Ahmedabad or Bangalore isnt that hard.

I have never seen a tournament been commissioned, teams sold, players bought and the tournament stared in the space of 2/3 months... If they were serious about this all the logistics and team auctions would have been done last year.

Hmmmm.look at their performance today in a final against SA.. Pathetic.

Our women's team are even bigger chokers than the SA mens team. They could have easily won the 2017 ODI WC F and the Commonwealth Gold if they hadn't choked.

They had Australia on the mat in both their CWG matches but couldn't close out the matches.

Tik Tok star Deol - 46 off 56

Rodriguez - 11 off 18

Mandana - 0 off 8

It's criminal to not use your full resources

is this why she was selected? A cursory look at her record reveals her to be a pretty poor player. perhaps she is selected for other reasons.

And Ind got hammered by Aus in WC warm up match. Ahahhaha... What a surprise! Ind had Aus on the mat and the last pair ( almost) smacked 50 off 26. AusW scored 129 and shot Ind out for 95. Mandana, Shwfali ducks :hysterical:

What a joke our women team is and i dont like that tik toker Harleen Deol and a failure like Rodriguesz. Selection politics in Women edition too  this WIPL is going to prove a benefit for all the other teams except India.

Of course it won't benefit India women's cricket for simple reason it's not been set up to . It's been set up to benefit a few Indian women , overseas women , owners and TV make money . No foundations have been laid for this league , who in their right mind pays 5 associate players to play over home grown Indian girl???

Sorry to tell you but the last thing on the mind of BCCI is grassroots Indian girl cricketers .

exactly.. a league that was set up in the space of 3 weeks isnt for improving the grassroot quality of women cricketers. Its just for BCCI to tick the woke Inclusion and diversity box to show they are serious about Women's cricket too- its a small price to pay for positive PR but it wont have any real benefits to Indian women cricketers.. but overseas players will slowly learn to play better on Indian pitches

This league has been spoken about for years and was announced on 24th may 2022 that it would take place 2023 and as you say it's been rushed in last three weeks with an auction ( should have been a draft ) taking place during a world cup . My view is it should have been 5 teams , 3 Indian contracted players each side ,  4 overseas women and a squad of 15 not 18 for first two years  . ...... 3  players for top pay grade,.   4 next level down ,  4 and 4 for last two pay grades . ...I feel this would be more beneficial for Indian women's cricket in the long run rather than a few people going how much money am I going to get !!!

Yes it's a warm up game but Ireland have just defeated a full strength Aussie side except for Darcie Brown ......
