My hero in Pant effectively scored a "century" while chasing to win a Test series.

I cried tears of joy when he hit that 4 to win the series. At 5/265 I had zero faith that India would win, I was praying for a draw. Then Pant went into beast mode.

Interestingly and easily forgotten is the Gill 91 vs Australia at the GABBA in the 2nd innings.

Has to rate as one of the greatest innings by an Indian batsmen.

Match thread reflects ebbs and flows of the match accurately.

I have lived through enough Indian cricket that, if I were a writer, I could write a टिप्पणी  about it.  Starting with 1979 Oval Test (SMG 221), I witnessed 1983 WC, 1985 WCC, paid some attention during the disappointing 1990s.  Then 2001 Eden.  2007 T20.  2011 WC.

But Gabba 2021 is, by far, my most memorable and favorite cricketing moment.  I love underdog stories.  I love comeback stories. I love calm, mentoring leadership where players are nurtured and willingly give their all to the team cause.  I love to see young unheralded talent succeed.  And more than anything, I love to see petulant Ozzies get their backsides whipped and turn into doormats.  This series, esp this match, had all of those elements.

I will never forget two moments - (a) the Sundar six off Pat Cummins, and (b) the victory ball racing off Pant's bat, and the entire team just waiting for it to cross the rope before looking at each other like "ab bhaag sakte hai naa ...." and sprinting on the field with unbridled joy!!

Wow!  Just wow!

PS: I still think that, if Rahane could have kept his batting form, he would have been a very successful test captain.  Alas.

If you check the match thread some would have suggested shutting the shop right after Mayank's dismissal. It was tha kind of a match towards the end.

And Washi said ... "Not on my watch ... Nossir!"  That six started the final surge.

Pity that, even after multiple clutch knocks from this guy, he couldn't get his place back in the test XI.  Sorry .... this is not the thread to lament.

Yup.  We have to rely on the selector "Mr.Injury" to unearth players like him

Sundar himself injured frequently. Definitely lot Indians were malnourished. Now younger kids they eat too much fast food and are fat.

I remember spending best part of 18th January tracking brisbane radar for rain and fell asleep. When I woke up after a bad dream of seeing pat cummins running and doing horrific things to India it was 6 AM in UK and I switched on the TV expecting to see highlights of Indian wickets ..but then then then I saw 200 something for 5 ..and Pant..and my heart was in my mouth till the ball passed the boundary line at 7.30 am and Siraj started jumping up and down with his pads on and rushed to the field..I opened up Times of India app and the headlines read

India steal thunder.. down under..

Suddenly my alarm started ringing and a notification  popped up in my mobile.. Gabba Weather: Cloudy with sunny spells for the rest of the day..

Flexibility is lacking. Kapil Dev used to train with Hockey team. Also if you focus on six pack you are unlikely to have balanced diet.  Wonder these guys indulge in keto diet. Jadeja certainly doesn't by the look of it.

If you could give me the link I would like to relive that thread lol.

Not sure if I even posted on there. I was glued to my TV.

The Sundar-Thakur partnership in the first innings was very critical..It made sure  we still stayed in the game.

Kohli for all his bad selections made sure he selected fit players dhoni too to an extent. Rohit sharma himself can’t pass any fitness test. If Rohit was playing for any foreign board they would have dropped him lol. For all the resources BCCI has they have a trainer per player and teach diet and exercise needed we do lack the science part in cricket especially biomechanics. Australia and England are much ahead in this space. I don’t know if BCCI even invests in this at all.
