How many months of rope will this 59 from Pujara give him?

it seems like none of the batters are held accountable. no need to just home in on pujara. look at feckless iyer, flashy (and useless) gill, lazy rohit, and the inept kohli. bharath is a keeper first and batter second, so he gets a pass. even jaddu has played foolishly and clumsily with the bat.

But Pujara went missing in the 2nd test at Bangladesh. He clicks once in a while in a losing cause. Did he help win? No. Managed to take 78 run lead. You have to score big.  Scores just enough to save his ass which is what Kohli did in the first test. scored a 44 and got away. This is how trimurthis have stuck around for far too long. Rahane/Kohli/Pujara. There is no escaping from averaging 26 in the last 3 years.

We needed one more batter to stay with him, we can curse him all we like but he was the best batter this innings! Iyer should've played responsibly after that start - he's lost us two games with that kind of *less batting!

We have to look at the big picture. Because of this comparison of innings by innings basis these leeches never leave.the side until they get dropped. First innings where he really had to.step up

How much rope (as if he was going to be dropped)? No one in particular knows as no one is a selector here.

Great knock though. Classy stuff!

most of our batters are guilty of just scoring enough to save themselves. including flashy gill and the hack iyer

Gill is a long term prospect. Iyer is starting his career where as Pujara became past by sell date 3 years back. He is not a long term prospeect.  If anything oldies should get lesser rope in comparison.

just like kela was a "long term prospect". iyer is a hack clearly. look at how he's batted this series.
