deepdynamo
Ruturaj, Gill and Jaiswal - All format, these three should be the core after ODI WC. Shaw & Kishan- maybe T20s, both attacking but loose technique. raki05, Throwaib_Chuckter and singhvivek141

Padikkal is also a talented opener, don't know why didn't succeed in first class. You can add Abhishek @Majestic if you forgot. Majestic

deepdynamo
Tilak verma is yet another gem. Reminds of yuvi- poise, elegance, power and game awareness. Gill Jaiswal Gaikwad Tilak Batting future is alright. All are around 22-24 age. bowl_out, raki05 and singhvivek141

Paddikkal's problem against high pace is getting exposed...there were talks that he struggles against pace and short deliveries. Add to that he is batting at no 4 which is not his usual position, I would say he is loosing the race with Jaiswal in RR team. raki05

Paddikal should try to play for some other team..maybe KkR..opening slot is open there. He can play that 400 run season batting there at his usual 125-130 S/R. Warner isn't going to do any favour to DC and he can play alongside Shaw who will go quick at 150-170 SR. KKR have Venkatesh Iyer who bats at a similar tempo...Paddikkal joins then Venkatesh's problem will arise.

KKR have no clue of using V Iyer. They play him as substitute or sometimes don't play. Paddikal could be an option alongside Gurbaz/Litton. For now, they are struggling for a good opening stand let alone explosive one.

If they buy Paddikal from RR, they will atleast have an option for opener spot. Gurbaz/Litton V Iyer/Paddikal S Iyer N Rana Rinku Russell Shardul Narine Ferguson Umesh VC Right now they are trying random names like Mandeep and Anukul Roy at top and then sent V Iyer at 4. Majestic
Ruturaj doing well, seems to enjoy the Chennai wicket. Gill is already in the Indian team and doing well so Ruturaj may push for Kishan's spot but having a leftie is also crucial. So, it might not be as easy for him. Nikhil_cric
Ruturaj has been impressive. Improved a lot maybe because he has murdered short of a length pace bowling and is extra aggressive against spin as well. He can play in the middle order in ODI's because Im not sure about his game upfront against swing in ODI's. Ideally should be playing the WC but hard to see him come in with his lack of international exposure

Abhilash93
Gill and Tilak Verma will be a good left-right combination in the shorter formats atleast. Though can't rule out Gaikwad and Jaiswal just yet. tweaker

One thing that I wonder about is - do we have stick to the "once-an-opener-always-an-opener" axiom? Just get the 4 or 5 best bats who are in the best form and play them. Why are we so wedded to batting spots, especially with younger players? Just find a way to give them opportunities. Didn't legend Sehwag start as a MO and then, seemingly on a whim, got promoted and never looked back? Right now: Gill Jaiswal Gaikwad SKY Tilak Verma Samson would be a good top 5 rotation for T20Is. For ODIs, replace SKY with Shreyas Iyer. Depending on conditions, opponent etc., mix and match the combo. And let me also say ... Abhishek Sharma is probably the most hyped under-performer in the IPL since its inception. I would probably pick Jitesh Sharma or Rinku Singh over him.
