AKane Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) Remember the fastest bowler came on to bowl 4th. Woakes came on 5th. Wood had 1 over in the first 22 or 23 overs. The new ball was owned by the great "Jimmy" Anderson. "Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy - try to bowl lil faster" "Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy - bend your back harder" Edited July 21, 2023 by AKane

Australia quickly runs out of ideas. They heavily rely on CUmmins who himself has a lot to prove in Asia. That's because Australian batsmen allowed English bowlers to find their rhythm, case in point Khwaja doing a Pujara after 1st test by easily giving his wicket. When you have runs on the board, you are more relaxed as bowling unit. On the other hand Australia are forced to bowl out England for low scores everytime, hence it affects their bowling rhythm. The real culprit is not Aussie bowling but their batting. Edited July 21, 2023 by MechEng

Even against India it was attrition cricket apart from Head. They also allowed us. Just that we are not good enough. Take out wood England will also struggle.

Mark Wood kuch nahin ukhaad paya when Ashes was played in Australia. Now don't come up with a geeky reason that he was bowling at 142 kph at that time but now he is bowling at 144 kph.

It's not the approach but the timidness, look how Warner and Khwaja got out again. Old fashioned test match batting is not meekness. Same Wood got hammered in Australia 2 years back.

Khawaja is vulnerable against high pace because he has zero foot work.

I think we have to wait and see how Stokes handles him compared to how Root handled. Root's team was losing to Windies. Even bundled out cheaply by Ireland

The real weakness is their batting. I've watched Warner in England, he barely scores high there but also doesn't bat like how he did today, that was a shocker from him inside edging to Woakes, the whole body language was very un-Aussie like.
wazza Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 This is why having a captain that backs fast bowling is needed to succeed. Moment we changed from kohli to rohit, our fast bowling went down from 1st place to now 3rd. nitinbwj 1
zen Posted July 22, 2023 Author Posted July 22, 2023 This has to be among the best series played of late. Aus-Eng 2-2 going into the 5th test, playing in conditions that more or less suit both teams relatively speaking, is a great advertisement for test cricket.

At full strength I mean Bumrah Sira Prasidh Harshit /Sen Would be deadly. Would be top 2 easy Butt given whome we would pick over them yes it would be us inferior

Umran Malik could have had a golden parachute but he's discarded already. Siraj will be Grounded to pulp by utilizing in all formats like Bumrah and he too will eventually be burned out and fizzle out. The structural problem is, you need BCCI to pay fast bowlers 5x salary and be treated with respect due to their short careers. But instead we have stat padders like Rohit and Kohli given opportunities in meaningless tours like current WI tour. These guys get paid highly by BCCI, have long careers and get ad money. It's pathetic and until this changes nothing will happen. Well said brother.

wazza Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Only one time did we ever play 4 pronged attack all pace. Ishant Siraj Shami Bunrah It was brilliant. Need a fast bowlers captain..
