Keep scoring man.

Keep those 4s and scoreboard moving. That's the only way you win.

On the same ground England hunted down 377 with ridiculous ease against us.  But  NZ's Matt Henry bowled very well here albeit against that insipid England under root.

As much as you hate you should tip your hat off to this kind of bowling, aggressive field set. Compared to that sleepy head vada pav who brainlessly gave 6 overs on the trot to each seamer then didn't use them for a long time.  No aggressive thoughtful field sets. England may or may not win. But they are bloody doing everything to apply pressure.

vada pav is a monument to the concept 'captaincy by numbers'. Even kohli tried to make things happen sometimes.

Smith is clearly past his best. Will struggle to reach 10k runs now. Huge decline. Gave his best for wtc final but that should be it.

yes, punter like decline coming up. he should retire soon instead of waiting forever - maybe with an avg of around 55-56. root should be able to many more years before his own decline sets in.

It is a titanic f*** up to appoint this unfit clown as Test captain. Missed already 5 or 6 tests overseas as captain.

Austrlaia has to be aggressive. Otherwise England will be all over them. After sometime ball will reverse. Stokes will come into picture as well.

they don't need stokes or even moeen. their pace quartet (ollie, broad, andie, and brook) + root will be enough

He has achieved plenty already. Time catches upto everyone and then again unorthodox techniques tend not to age well.

Last year Bumrah teed off against Broad and created a world record. They need someone to rattle Broad. If you allow him to bowl the way he wanted he will eventually get you.

Will England consider Livingstone for next match. He can also do part time.

they should replace moeen with livingstone or jacks or even rehan ahmed. all can bat, and will not bowl much more poorly than moeen.

This is reason why i feel root should end up as best test batsman of this generation by the end of his career. 40-45 centuries with 15k runs will be good enough for me and it looks quite possible with the way he is batting right now. Smith will struggle to get 1000 runs more now.

Yes. More importantly Moeen doesn't have "test match" fitness.

A brisk Bazball innings from Head is necessary for Australia to win this. Game is done otherwise imo.

only travball stands blocking Oz defeat. but I think eng will work him out sooner

That was the pathetic Indian attack who allowed him to scored otherwise he past his prime.

one of the  main  reasons as to why I have  always felt  that ' a  knock being clutch deserve huge  credit is to be subjective and not objective '

it looked possible for ponting, cook, even smith when they were at their peaks. and this is obviously root's peak at the moment
